Wire Hitting The Fan Archive Former Buckeyes in NBA Summer League
Written by David Regimbal

buford msuWith the NBA draft now in the rear-view mirror, drafted and undrafted players hoping to make a team have turned their attention to the NBA’s summer league -- an annual event that takes place in July to give teams an opportunity to look at their new and young talent. Plenty of former Ohio State Buckeyes will be making their way to Las Vegas to participate.

Jared Sullinger, drafted in the first round, will be playing with fellow teammates Fab Melo, Kris Joseph, JaJuan Johnson and E'Twaun Moore for the Boston Celtics. William Buford -- undrafted after underwhelming teams with his lack of fitness this spring -- will join the Minnesota Timberwolves’ summer league team.

Former Ohio State guards David Lighty and Jon Diebler will also play in the summer league -- Lighty with the Atlanta Hawks and Diebler with Portland, who drafted him in the second round two years ago. Both guards played in leagues overseas last year -- Lighty in Italy, Diebler in Greece. Dallas Lauderdale, a former teammate of Lighty and Diebler at Ohio State, will play with Golden State’s summer league team alongside Harrison Barnes and Draymond Green.
