Trent Richardson takes the high road with Jim Brown
Cleveland Browns rookie running back Trent Richardson is taking the high road and focusing on the upcoming season rather than waste time with Jim Brown, the franchise's all-time leading rusher.
"He has his own thoughts. That’s him being him," Richardson told ESPN. "I have no problem with it. I just wish the best of luck for him whatever he’s doing in life."
Brown, bitter since being relieved of his duties as an official executive adviser and the six-figure payday that came along with it by team president Mike Holmgren, was critical of the Browns selecting Richardson with the No. 3 overall pick in the 2012 NFL Draft. Brown described the consensus No. 1 running back in the draft as "ordinary" and a player that doesn't have "anything outstanding about him."
Thankfully for the Browns (and the fans) Richardson is more worried about getting ready to face Pittsburgh and Baltimore twice a year.
"I laugh at the situation," Richardson said. "You don’t know me from spic to span. But he’s Jim Brown. He’s done a lot here and I haven’t done anything yet. I have a lot to accomplish and big shoes to fill. When it comes down to it, I have to work and make sure I make him a believer. I haven’t done anything yet."
Now if only the media would let this "controversy" that they created die down, we'd all be better off.
