Former Zips Defensive Lineman Hasan Hazime was one of three MAC alums drafted by teams in the annual CFL draft.

The Edmonton Eskimos drafted Hazime in the fifth round of the Canadian Football League draft. He was the 36th pick overall. He started the first three games of 2011 before going out with a season ending knee injury. He tallied 10 tackles and one blocked punt in that short time. The Pickering, Ontario native played 12 games as a sophomore and junior, starting 11 games as a junior. His college career stats include 108 tackles and 5.5 sacks.

Other MAC draftees include Eastern Michigan Defensive Lineman Jabar Westerman taken in the first round by British Columbia 2nd overall, and Northern Illinois Defensive Back Courtney Stephen taken in the second round by Hamilton 8th overall. The CFL pre-season begins June 13, and the regular season kicks off June 29th. Hazime could face Westerman again on July 6th as Hamilton visits BC.
