Matt Packer, SP-AKR: W (5-10), 8 IP, 2 ER, 8 H, 9 K, 9 BB

After a rough start to the season, Packer has really settled down and become one of the most consistent pitchers in the organization of late. In his last 6 starts dating back to July 7, Packer is 3-1 and has gone at least 7 IP in all 6 starts. He’s thrown 46 innings, allowed just 8 ER, struck out 40 and walked 7. After going 0-3 with a 10.17 ERA in a horrible month of June, the 32^nd round pick out of the University of Virginia has really established himself as a potential innings-eating starter at the major league level.

• Cory Burns, RP-AKR: S (30), K. Since June 1, Burns has allowed just 4 earned runs in 26 innings of work.
• Juan Diaz, SS-AKR: 1-4, HR (7), RBI, R. After hitting 3 HR in 85 April AB, Diaz has just 4 in 332 AB since.
• Chun Chen, C-AKR: 1-4, 1B, R. Chen has been struggling lately, hitting just .184/.256/.395 in his last 10 games.
• T.J. House, SP-KIN: 6 2/3 IP, 3 R (2 ER), 6 H, 3 K, 3 BB. After three straight poor starts, House rebounded with a solid outing last night to give the K-Tribe a chance to win.
• Kyle Landis, RP-KIN: W (6-0), 1 1/3 IP, H, K. Another scoreless outing for Landis, who lowers his Kinston ERA to 1.13 in 32 IP on the season.
• Preston Guilmet, RP-KIN: S (27), IP, H. Guilmet is 3 behind former collegiate teammate Cory Burns for the org lead in saves. And if you think the two of them don’t know that, you’re nuts.
• Jeremie Tice, DH-KIN: 2-3, 2 2B, BB, R. The power surge continues for Tice, who’s now slugging .658 in Kinston’s last 10 games.
• Doug Pickens, C-KIN: 2-2, 2B, 2 RBI, R. Pickens provided the fireworks late, and was the player of the game for the K-Tribe despite not even starting yesterday.
• Tyler Cannon, 2B-KIN: 2-3, 2B, BB, R. Last year’s 12^th round pick out of UVA is hitting .285/.374/.468 between Lake County (93 AB), Akron (18 AB) and Kinston (205 AB).
• Ronny Rodriguez, SS-LCC: 1-4, 1B, K. Lake County was shut out yesterday, and Ro-Ro had one of their four hits.
• Tony Wolters, SS-MVS: 5-6, RBI, 2 R, K. Suddenly one of the top prospects in the organization after trades and graduations, Wolters is having a solid season for short season Mahoning Valley.
• Alex Lavisky, DH-MVS: 2-4, RBI, BB, R. Still a top-20 overall guy in the org despite a poor first season. Catchers develop slowly, and this time last year Lavisky was still attending his friends’ HS graduation parties.
• Todd Hankins, 2B-MVS: 2-4, 2 2B, 2 RBI, BB, 3 R. Make it three straight multi-hit games for the Hammer.
• Jake Lowrey, C-MVS: 1-3, 2 BB, R. Lowrey has walked 5 times in his last 10 plate appearances.
• Anthony Reyes, RP-AZL: IP. Reyes is on the comeback trail yet again, and has thrown 3 innings for the AZL Indians, giving up 1 ER and striking out 2.
• Leonardo Castillo, 1B-AZL: 3-4, 2 HR (4), 2B, 4 RBI, 2 R, K. The 6’2”, 190lb Dominican corner infielder just turned 18 in July. He’s hitting .301/.331/.487 in the complex league.
