Wire Hitting The Fan Archive More Trouble at Ohio State: LB Bell Suspended
Written by David Regimbal

altThird-year sophomore Dorian Bell has been suspended for the entirety of the 2011 football season for violating team rules. Bell’s recent suspension comes on the heels of his third violation of team rules since 2009.

The talented linebacker from Pennsylvania was already serving a two game suspension that started with Ohio State’s 31-26 victory over Arkansas in the Sugar Bowl. Bell was expected to return to the field after Ohio State’s home-opener against Akron this September, but his latest run-in (reportedly his third time violating the same rule) pushed the coaching staff over the edge.

Bell wasn’t expected to start, but he was going to battle for the open SAM linebacker position this fall. The sophomore had a fantastic spring this year and excelled in situations where he could blitz the quarterback. His absence will be a heavy loss to the special teams unit -- an area where the Buckeyes need all the help they can get.
