Adam Miller Returns to the Mound
Yes, THAT Adam Miller. For the first time since 2008, former top prospect Adam Miller returned to the mound in a regular season prof
essional baseball game. He was activated on April 30 and threw an inning for the Kinston Indians. Miller took the loss for the K-Tribe, and his final line wasn't pretty. He threw one inning, giving up 4 runs (3 earned) on 4 hits, walking one and striking out a batter. Miller's inning went K, 2B, 2-run HR, 1B, 6-3, BB, RBI 1B, FO 7.
Regardless of the result, it's great to see Miller back on the mound pitching in live game action again. I got to see Miller pitch in spring training, and he was sitting mostly in the low-90's with his fastball, and mid-80's with his curveball. He's still building up arm strength and learning how to pitch again, and has to basically re-learn how to grip all of his pitches after the multiple procedures on his finger.
It's a great story, and although Miller still has a ways to go before he ever realizes his dream of pitching in the major leagues, he took an important first step in Kinston. It will be fun to keep an eye on the big Texan as he tries to climb the ladder as a reliever, and I really hope he makes it to Cleveland someday. The man formerly known as Atom is back in action, and we're all pulling for him.
