Local (Canton) product Josh McDaniels was fired by the Denver Broncos on Monday, per team spokesman Patrick Smyth.

If one were to speculate the reasons for McDaniels not even making it through his 2nd season, one might come up with:

*Inability to get along with star talent, creating a mass exodus (Brandon Marshall, Jay Cutler, etc.).

*Highly questionable personnel moves, such as trading Peyton Hillis and 2 draft picks for the immortal Brady Quinn.

*Poor relationship with many of his players.

*Reportedly huge out-of-proportion ego.

*McSpyGate, where one of his coaches videotaped a 49'ers walkthrough in London prior to the Denver-San Fran game.

*Going 5-17 in the last 22 games.

That last one was likely the kicker, although he likely would've at least survived the season if not for all the other sins.  In the end, Josh McDaniels will probably resurface somewhere else and may still someday get another Head Coaching shot.  He's young, and people will remember the history of his mentor, Bill Bellichick.

Still, hard to remember an uglier and more disastrous first term than Mr. McDaniels'.
