They had a women general manager who'd apparently done a good job. She recently moved up to a Triple A org. Wonder if the writing was on the wall then. Another guy I know in Kinston said they'll get another team, but it probably won't be High-A, which they liked.

I've seen the K-Tribe in Kinston too. Nice ballpark, neat little town, good people. Actually the new venue is closer to where my kid lives than Kinston is. Just hope they have as good a situation in their new home.

For selfish reasons, this is a drag. My company conducts business with a guy in Kinston, and he took me to a game a couple yrs ago. He's a friendly, older guy who was one of a bunch of people who each put up a couple thou to own the team a few yrs ago. He had some stories about the old days when Kinston was a Yankee, then Pirate affiliate. Has memories of a lot of legendary Yankees staying with his grandparents (before the days of teams staying at hotels). I still sport the K-Tribe gear he gave me. I know we saw Frank Herrmann pitch at that game I saw. Saw some guys like Beau Mills who I'd heard of. I came away most impressed with little Luis Perdomo, who sometimes made a quick, imaginary circle with his hand in his glove, from his belt to his cap and back. Don't know what he was trying to accomplish, but it was pretty funny. Like he was warding off spirits or something.
