Here's Baseball Prospectus' take on the duo: # Pirates: Josh Rodriguez, UT (from Cleveland): One of the best players in that "Older, Triple-A Guy" category. Rodriguez can play second and third at the big league level, shortstop in a pinch, and even some corner outfield. He doesn't have a plus tool, but he has enough patience and gap power to stick. # Mariners: Jose Flores, RHP (from Cleveland): Venezuelan right-hander has above-average velocity and pounds the strike zone, but has never pitched above Low-A and big leagues would be a shocking jump. So no, mother...it isn't just you. As for Rodriguez, that write-up ("one of the best of the Older/Triple A Guy") makes me feel even better about losing him.

So we've identified AL and NL Rookies of the Year anyway. Which is nice. Can't wait til Rodriguez hits a game winning double 6 years from now and someone starts a thread lamenting his loss. Watch Flores be Carmona version 2007 ;-)

Is it just me, or does it seem insane to pick someone, anyone, out of low A ball in the rule 5 draft? They are going to ruin that guy.
