The Morning After: San Diego

The ghost of the Butch Davis regime continues to mock us from beyond the grave. We could have had LaDainian Tomlinson in the 2001 draft. He was there for the taking at the third pick. But Davis, in a preview of the personnel management disasters that were to come, balked and took Gerard "the nicest guy ever arrested" Warren. Warren is now living life to the fullest in Denver. Tomlinson is on the fast track to the hall of fame in San Diego. The Browns ... well, look at the record.

Preview: Browns/Chargers

With or without Shawne Merriman, the Chargers will provide quite the test for the Browns and their sudden one game winning streak this week says The Hornless Rhino. Traveling cross country, with a banged up defense, to face the NFL's top rushing attack seems like too tough a task for the orange and brown. But are the Chargers all they're hyped up to be? The Morning After: New York

In his regular "Morning After" feature, Papa Cass takes a look back at the Browns win over the Jets this past Sunday, and comes to a couple of conclusions. The offensive line loves having their position coach calling the plays. And the Browns' collective confidence is so fragile, a paper cut could burst it right now. But they can still win games in spite of it.

Old School

For at least this Sunday, the Browns took a trip back to the good 'ole days, defending their home turf in an old school fashion. Trap plays, power running, stout hard hitting defense, and a dominance in the time of possession battle. The offense was efficient, tough, and well run in the first game of The Jeff Davidson Era, giving Browns fans a glimmer of hope for brighter days ahead. The Rhino is here with the recap.

I Like Jeff Davidson

The Hornless Rhino has had a chance to meet Jeff Davdison, and even observe his coaching style from the sidelines. The Rhino liked what he saw, and claims that Davidson's player friendly personality, cool demeanor, and willingness to think outside of the box could have a very positive impact on this offense.
