Tampa Bay Is Coming To Town
As bad as this season has been for the Browns, it's been even worse for Tampa Bay. The Bucs are 3-11, have lost four games in a row and seven out of their last eight. Whatever you think of Charlie Frye and Derek Anderson, they both still have their spleens. On this Christmas Eve morning, before he heads down to the Stadium ... The Rhino previews todays game and conjures up memories of the Browns first NFL Championship, which they won on December 24, 1950.

When You Lose To Win, You Lose
In a response to Joel Witmer's column from this morning, John Hnat says that drafting high doesn't guarantee squat. And that high draft picks tend to not lead their teams to the Promised Land, and they chew up a lot of the salary cap in the process. Are the Browns better off at #11, than say #4? John makes a compelling argument that they may be.

Running In Place
In his Monday afternoon presser, Browns coach Romeo Crennel insisted the team was making progress, just not in that pesky win column. In his latest, Gary Benz questions that proclamation. He takes a closer look at this years six division games against last years six AFC North games. And what he found was clearly not "progress".

Controversy? Nope. Distraction? Yes.
The Rhino gets loose today, scoffing at the notion that the Browns have another QB controversy on their hands. He says this isn't a controversy, it's just the latest sideshow to distract fans from the real problem that's confronted the team for the past eight seasons--the lack of a legitimate offensive line. Until they address that problem, the outcome of this latest tempest in a teapot won't matter a damn.

The Morning After: Baltimore
Winless in the division. For the first time ever. Weren't we supposed to be a little further along by this point? In "The Morning After", Papa Cass takes a closer look at the Crennel/Savage regimes 1-11 record in division, and also finds that the team is actually 9-9 outside the division over the same stretch. Just two more games left before we can all concentrate on what we know: talking NFL Draft.
