Brutal day for me yesterday. Trying to make sense of todays board now.

Tournament is hard to bet IMO. I rarely ever profit. Yet, I seem to always do well the last couple weeks of reg season and in the conference tournaments.

This year, for about the last 6 weeks, when I've had good days, I've snuck $10-$20 here and there on Memphis (mostly at 8-1) and UCLA (most at 5-1) to win the whole thing. If either hits, I got a nice little payday awaiting.

Probably would have been better off not doing that.

Don't worry, I lost money today too. It's been a rough day for sports.

Rich,
In the past, how many e-mails have you received on the morning of tourney action containing picks that combined for a perfect SEVEN for SEVEN ATS, from someone NOT named the Lead Man?

Pipe, I had my wife give me 7 lashes with the hickory stick this morning as my punishment for not coattailing you.

Stupid ass I am adding those two games last night. Made a 4-4 day a losing day.

Like Duke and Wisconsin early today ...

Duke is now 4.5. Goes much highes and Lead will be on the other side.

Like Marquette. The PAC Ten is showing some holes, and if Marquette can score the ball they are the better team here. It's a big if, might be a money line opportunity to win outright. Lead will be watching that line.

Back on the winning side of the ledger for me today.

Katsidas over Casamayor in this fight on HBO would put a nice capper on a good day.

Katsidas is a fucking moron. Talented, but a sloppy approach and a glass jaw. Was a good fight though. Was just praying he'd finally put Casamayor out of his misery. Now we gotta suffer through another 2-3 fight deal with HBO for him.

Great pace and aggression but zero defense.
I hate Casamayor.
They both are pretty dirty fighters.

God I hope you're wrong.

Pulled Wisconsin in that pool Lubber does every year. 64 people, everyone gets one team, I pulled Wisconsin.

They covered their 1st two games so Im in the final 16 with them -5 tonight.

Only game that really does anything for me tonight is Stanford +2.

I've got Texas winning in my pool so your Stanford +2 pick is as good as gold.

At last look that game was Wisc - 4.5
Texas -2
Kansas -12
Memphis -4.5

A little taste on Davidson and the money line (+220) and a little more with Davidson +6 is a nice way to start the weekend thus far.

All courtesy of a late call coming home from work from TCF's resident odds advisor, Lead Pipe.

Might be time to call that guy Gold Pipe.

I agree with both those. Especially if it's still UCLA +2 and North Carolina -3.

What's UCLA Moneyline number. That's all locked down at work for me.

EDIT: BTW, three straight wins betting against the Cavs. They may be struggling on the court but they're money at the window.

Sticking with my initial prediction.

Memphis vs Kansas

Just locked in the Jayhawks at +3.5.

Memphis is -2 (-115). Hoping the extra hair falls off that deuce, or maybe it even gets down to 1.5 leading into the game. Still a little surprised Memphis is favored, figured it would be a pick or UCLA -1.

Bodog ain't giving me a money line option on Memphis right now.

Should be incredible games tomorrow, I am absolutely stoked.

Lead's allegiance is to the window, not Ben Howland.

That being said, I think UCLA, which can be had at +2.5, is the play.

I don't like the Carolina game - UnLeaded.

Don't float the general public Swerb, bad for the roll.

And Peeker is correct about the Cavs. Last night, Chicago plus 8, against a team in disarry because of injuries and a superstar pacing himself for the real season. Not to mention that moron Drew Gooden not being in uniform to ruin the dog's chances. What a lay-up that was.

Interesting dilemma I have tonight.

Been placing futures wagers on Memphis to win it all for the better part of the last 3 months. In total, I have about $140 in bets out there at an average of about 6-1. Some from earlier in the year at 8-1, some from the last couple weeks at 4-1 and 5-1.

They win, I collect $843.

The smart play would be to bet $850 on Kansas +2 and hope for the middle. A one point Memphis win and I collect both bets, a total of $1700. And I can't lose. I'm walking away with $850 regardless of what happens.

But I love Memphis in this game and am inclined to go for the jugular.

Lead Pipe? Anyone?

Talk some sense into me.

Everyone seems to like Memphis.
I'd have to go with Kansas, if I was a betting man.
Should be a great game, let's hope so.

The big play is to bet the $850 on KU and hope for the middle.

The Smart play is to bet the $140 or $150 (whatever the total cake you laid out on Memphis) on Kansas +2. That ensures you're covered if KU wins. You can still middle it there as well.

One thing I keep looking at? The game opened with KU -1.5.

The line went overnight to Memphis -2. That's a big jump.

I've been to Vegas a few times. Those books and hotels are nice. I believe more in the houses that set that line than in the guys who bet it.

You could bet Kansas outright and hope against all hope that the final is by 3 or more either way.

What I want to do is money line Memphis with everything in my account, pray for the win, and then go buy a new Macbook and a laser printer after I just leave $300-$400 in there to mess around with baseball.
