When does Great Lakes release the xmas ales to stores? Isnt it like the middle of October?

If stronger ales are your deal, go with the GLB Nosferatu while you can still find it. Also very good.

Just popped into the wine shop located less than 500 yards from my office in Springfield and picked up a 4-pack of Nosferatu and three 6-packs of the Christmas Ale (the place has got EVERYTHING, which is pretty amazing considering the town). Hopefully, I'll have a few left for The Game on Saturday.

Uh, my Friday morning of last week would beg to differ, as the worst hangover I've gone to work with was quite enjoyable!

As far as I've ever known about GLB Beer is that all of them are under-reported. Nosferatu, and Blackout Stout are the equivalent of a Booze hand grenade. Oddly enough they are listed way less then some Belgian Beers which don't even come close to the benchmark.

Don't know if anyone caught this, Christmas Ale made the front page of the PD last week.

Demand is insane. Expected to the 4th highest grossing beer for sales in '07, and that's despite only a three month run. Amazing.

Also, they almost couldn't make it this year. There's a big bee shortage in America, and luckily, Great Lakes had a lot of extra honey in their inventory from last year.

Another good brew I tried last night for the first time is Goose Island's Christmas Ale. Not quite as potent, not quite the crisp taste of the Great Lakes Xmas Ale, but a good brew along the same lines.

Three or four of em still made my wifes nagging sound like Joe Tait callin a game though.

6 stores in Lake County to come up with 2 6-packs. The stuff is scarce. And they're getting about $10 per 6-pack which is about $2.50 more than Dortmunder and even Nosferatu.

Now I gotta go grab one.

Guy told me they got in 50 cases Monday. It was gone by 5 PM Friday.

I couldnt find any of the GL Xmas Ale but I did try some "Dead Guy" Ale which a friend brought over for the Browns/Jets game and It was pretty good I still prefer Lager but im expanding my horizons.

Called three liquor stores. Three grocers. Finally found a place with XMas Ale. The Giant Eagle in Twinsburg said "we've got six six packs left, but we can't keep the stuff on the shelves".

I was in the car before they said shelves. Racing down Rte 91, doing 60 in a 35.

Case and a half chilling as we speak though.

Put the kid to bed right quick and celebrate tonight by taking about five to the head.

By the way, I was in a Wal-Mart grabbing some shit for the witches when a guy rolls a cart by filled with PS3 games, a guitar for Guitar Hero, a bunch of other electronic stuff and some unidentified Christmas crap. He was pushing all of that in the cart.

But he was clutching the last 6 pack of the Christmas Ale tightly in his off hand.

Just gave each other a knowing nod and went on about our business.

Got home from work tonight, it was the first time I didn't have any on hand. I wasn't necessarily jonsin for a beer right after work today, but it was just an uneasy feeling knowing I had none in the house.

Felt kinda like the couple days after I ran out of Darvesets when I had a kidney stone this past winter. Those were tough days. You feel really really good after taking a couple of those.

Certain buzzes you get accustomed to.

Dude, sorry to hear that. I get twitchy just reading that others have had them, nothing scares me more. I can take pain but I have no interest in taking that pain just to prove I can do it.

I'll take getting kick in the balls any day over that possibility.

So i saved a case of the xmas ale. I got it down my basement where there is very little light and temp change. Do you think it will be fine to open these bad boys in the summer without losing the taste or going flat? I want to have a xmas in july BBQ. Thought a case of xmas ale would be a great surprise.
