Our D needs big plays to survive and the offensive playcalling needs to be a bit more "innovative" (less stubborn) than they were in the first half.

Marcus has been awesome this entire game. Spence better be looking over his shoulder for the rest of his suspension. Reeves has been decent and Bell has been up and down, but at least there is up (which is way better than anything we have gotten out of Pitt Brown).

If Clemson is going to play Press man against OSU wrs then Miller needs to tuck and run. He will get 10-15 every play. OSU needs to continue to use the TE down the middle off of run action. The LBs are selling out against the run. They also need some screens/stop routes into the Clemson blitz. God, I feel like I am coaching my kids HS team.

Our WRs must truly suck at getting open, or Braxton is awful at reading these routes. Way to inept of a passing attack considering we have 2-3 guys in our backfield that you MUST keep focus on that can burn you on every play.

Who is playing for Spence, he's doing alright, at least making some plays when we need them.

Jamal Marcus. He is dominating out there. He must have about 10 tackles so far.

Congrats Philly Brown. That is one of those momentum swinging plays that causes your team to lose. Let's recap here....

OSU up 29-20, makes a big stop. They have been moving the ball well, so you feel it is likely to be a 36-20 game in a few minutes.

Philly muffs the punt, now it is 29-27 even faster than you thought it would be 36-20. FUCK. That ball was kicked straight in the air, why not just FC it?

Philly has been a very solid receiver but i hate him on punt returns..he always has problems fielding the punt and he isn't shifty quick enough anyway. Never understood all year why they aren't having Wilson field those punts.

Wheels loose and about to fall off.

Question, why do we never or so rarely run to the wide side?, we always seem to run short side or up the gut, when everyone from here to Antarctica knows it.

Bad, bad series of events. You could see this coming as soon as Philly muffed that punt.

Even though it doesn't feel that way, the defense has played better. I guess that is a positive.

Bucks have a chance to take back momentum here. Not over yet, despite the back2back turnovers.

Miller is lost too often, not a heady guy at all in big games, IMO.

Love those down field routes with Hyde.

Maybe, and that 2 pt conversion (while important) might be the best way to get him in and get rid of any nerves real quick on a play that wasn't a must.

Gotta wonder if Brax is really interested in going pro right now, will he be motivated to return tonight if he feels he is really banged up?

My DirecTV connection keeps fading in and out. I missed the 2pt play and the call for the penalty on the TD.

Probably the greatest 2pt attempt in the history of football, and undoubtedly the best penalty call by a ref ever.

If I were Chad Morris I would just run that WR screen to #2 all night until OSU does something about it.

Why do you say that?

Just b/c his offense is very much run based, it works well if you have a passing QB that can just keep the D honest with his feet. Don't forget Braxton wasn't his recruit.

It seemed like 95% of all the passes Braxton threw the past two seasons were all about RPMs in hopes of trying to impress the guys at the next level.

Urban quit on this team tonight.

Could have still made them punt the ball with 30 seconds left. Was he even paying attention as they let the clock work down before the pick?

And boy genius OC can go eat a bag of dicks.

Play calling was AWFUL. You are spot on there. This team was outcoached.... third straight week. I hate to say it, but Tressel was almost never outcoached, except once by maybe an upstart Florida HC.

That was about the only time I thought JT was outcoached.

We knew the D would struggle...it did so no surprises. If anything they were better than I expected in light of the injuries.

What bothers me the most (besides the loss) are:

1. After finally figuring out that the tight end over the middle is wide open
against a scheme like that we don't go back to it even once in the 2nd half.
I can't understand that at all. Same thing happened against Sparty.

2. Second to last series keeping Dontre Wilson in the backfield as a pass blocker.
Come on, even my wife knows that was a bad idea. Dontre has his role and pass
blocking aint it.

3. Philly on the punt/fumble. As previously mentioned, totally changed the momentum
and outcome of the game. We all knew it at the time. It has been mentioned
during previous game threads on here multiple times that Philly is not good in
that role. So why did the staff not use someone else to field punts? Maybe,
just maybe they could use Dontre in that role....WTF

I think Urban really needs to look hard at his coaching staff and make some tough decisions.

I like Urban and think we are fortunate to have him but if he is the post Florida, delegating Urban he needs to have top assistants. I' not so sure that we have that but I trust him to judge that and fix it.

I wouldn't go so far as to say out coached (maybe in some spots), but he didn't out coach as much as one expects Urban to do. I think right now Urban might be coaching down to his players more than being "out coached" in general. I'm not so sure he's sold on some of his guys (players and coaches) and maybe makes some calls to protect them, which I never thought he was into in Florida. :shrug

I think it's too easy to get too down right now, this D was just putrid, so putrid that a 20% improvement probably changes everything.

You say play calling and I'll say execution. On the pass/fumble sack, Hyde is the hot receiver running free. You can easily see it from the end zone view. Miller stands in the pocket looking in the middle of the field. Not sure they got out coached game day, but agree they were not prepared.

Same on the last INT. Dude (Brown?) is running free and all Miller needs to do is put a slight bit of air under the ball and it's 6 or aart least a FG attempt. Not sure how play calling is responsible for all the turnovers.

After Tressel was gone and we were able to hire Urban most of the posters on TOS were bashing Tressel and counting our future national championships under Urban. I said at the time on that site that we may never see the consistency of conference championships and BCS bowl wins again that we saw under Tressel. I still think Urban will get his national championship(s) here but we won't have the consistency we had under Tressel.

I agree that with even close to equal athletes Tressel almost always won. The only games I remember him getting out coached was the Florida NC and one of the USCe bowl games.

Meyer's defensive staff has a roster chocked full of 4 and 5* kids. Go rewatch Stanford vs. Sparty. Look at those D's. Those are kids that didn't even sniff OSU offers.

I get that sometimes a guy doesn't work out (like C. Grant), but an entire defensive side of the ball? Seriously? He needs to fire the entire staff. They are an emabarrassment. I has been comically bad for 3 years now. JT recruited well, and Meyer has stepped it up, but this defense is epically bad. How many disappointing 600 yard games will it take?

My problem with JT, not just in hindsight (felt this way since 2007) was that his coaching style enhanced a player's floor more than it did the player's ceiling. He just didn't seem to want to let the kids determine the fate of the game enough. Not to mention his conservative style, which cost us a few games, and a couple to teams we had no business losing to. Plus his OLs & WRs never seemed to live up to the hype or develop post 2006.

And ill gladly point you back to the 3 straight 3 and outs in the first half where we ran into 9 man fronts, and the whole forgetting that the TE is wide open in the middle of the field because all the LBs are playing the run.

We were outschemed. Just like Tressel was when Meyer dinked and dunked up and down the field with Chris Leak against JT in 2006.

I am not even going to bother with talking about how bad the D looked. They still never figured out how to stop a WR screen, even though Clemson ran 20 of them.

Everyone expected the D to be a dumpster fire. The O was shit for the first 20 minutes, and then they adjusted, and adjusted well. From the mid point of Q2 the Bucks punted ONCE, every other drive was either a TD or turnover. I'll agree that they were not prepared or did not anticipate the Clemson blitz, but not sure you can pin 4 fucking turnovers on Meyer and the OC.

Boyd handed the game to Miler on a silver fucking platter at the end, with Dabo getting fired or at the very least endless amounts of shit (deserved). All #10 has to do us drop it in a seam route. And he couldn't.

Like I said last night, keep turning 4* and 5* recruits into 2* players and you'll eat a lot if national shit. They earned that laughter last night with that defense on the field and their QB incapable of making a read or a throw when he had to.

JB is correct in his bonerness for Sammy Watkins.

Here's what Roby had to say last night...

Bradley Roby ‏@BradRoby_1 9h

The fact that people tweeting at me sayin all this negativity is crazy to me. It makes me ashamed to even have played for y'all
_____________________________________________________________________________________

He must have somewhat regretted saying it since he followed it up thanking the "real fans"

Roby wasn't good this year but I wonder what kind of person tweets to him talking trash??

Well we're ashamed that you played for us all, so we're on the same page at least. Been a long time since there's been such a waste of talent at OSU.

The rematch ended pretty much as the first one. #10 throws an INT. in the end. Only difference is Urbs didn't take a swing.
