Cavs up 49-48 at the half

Bench has been pretty beautiful and Bynum is looking rusty but good

What is the over/under on how many hours before there is a new TT thread?

I'm not going to be the one to create it but TT certainly has exceeded almost everyone's expectations.

Is Byron Scott coaching this game? The blown 4th-qtr lead is very familiar.

They held on. Mike Brown's defense has these guys looking a lot better after 1 game.

I like how we used the 11-man rotation. A huge strength of this team is depth and versatility. Especially with a 3-game set to start the year.

If this team stays healthy, and the 3 guys we need to grow into their games actually do, this team will be strong. They'll compete for a 4th seed, and with a break here or there they could get it.

Really enjoyed that game. Needed a diversion from the celebration in Boston, too.
I thought they were going to lose for sure when the lead dried up late. And, I was talking myself into being OK with that - showing they could do it, with the promise of soon doing it. But they closed! And they won without Irving really carrying them.

One thing- Irving is supposed to be stronger this year. I just don't see it. Am I missing something? During a summer league game, he sat with Steve Kerr for a while and made Kerr look big.

Didn't see the game, but was surprised to look at the box score and see our #1 overall pick only had two points?

Don't be. Dude isn't ready yet. I'd expect him to be wildly inconsistent this year, especially early on. But the talent's there, so as long as he works hard I'm not concerned about him.

What did concern me about Bennett is the fact that he showed up so out of shape. Yes, he was injured, but he still could have run, or done pool exercises. But I said the same thing about Waiters last year, and he showed up in much better shape this year. We'll see.

And I think it's time to admit I was wrong about Thompson (there you go, Yahoo). He works hard on his game, and it shows. He's even developed an outside shot - something I never thought would happen. Big props to him for proving me wrong, and here's hoping he can keep doing it.

If you were 19 years old and somebody handed you a couple million dollars in June and said "show up for work in mid September" you'd prolly hit the restaurant circuit pretty hard too. Especially after all that shit college food. Add in all the BBQ at your mom's new house and it's easy to see why these kids pack on the pounds. Not saying it's excusable, but it's easy to understand the mentality (or lack thereof.)

Once they get that first few months under their belt and they understand the Association is hyper-competitive and nobody is entitled to anything...the attitude will change.
