A bit of a lazy play by Kip - you've gotta be aware of the runner - but, Salazar gets a pair of Ks and holds the Sox scoreless.

If you get a chance, watch how Carlos Gomez reacted after a first inning HR tonight against the Braves..... 1st class dick head reaction!

He's a lock to get drilled.

Why must we come from behind again?

I really wanted the Indians to be on top of a stress-free blowout to cap the homestand.

Don't worry, Axelrod's a bum.... we'll score 5+ off him.

On a side note, it was fun to see a lot of Cleveland news on ESPN today and not have it be all bad.

It was: Giambi Good!!
Hoyer Good!!

6 more Ks for Salazar through 4IP.

Pitch count a pretty healthy 52 though tonight, which is a marked improvement over his last few starts.

Do you suppose Danny Salazar makes enough money to afford a trip to Best Cuts?

This seems like less of a Carlos Gomez problem and more of an Atlanta Braves problem. Is this not at least the third time this season they've gotten overly sensitive about an opponent's homerun trot? (Bryce Harper, Jose Fernandez, Carlos Gomez, anybody else?).....I see Gomez's pose and trot each and every night on Baseball Tonight from countless Major Leaguers. Tribe had a couple bat flips last night and I didn't see Conor Gillaspie or the Phegley kid behind the plate getting upset.

At least he made up for it with a 2-out, 2 RBI single?

I'm guessing the difference is the Braves being showed up by a team 22.5 games behind them and the White Sox being showed up by the team 32.5 games ahead of them. OTOH, I would hope if the Sox had done that to us last night our Tribe would have more class than the Braves.

WTH, did Swisher take over the sound booth? While listening to Hammy talk to Masty after the game I hear a familiar tune in the background...THE Ohio State University Fight Song? Image

I actually thought they would bean Giambi. Im just not sure if its that they dont care, the team is too young so the players are either scared or not offended, or since AJ Jackassinski isnt there the team has mellowed.

It would be in pretty poor taste to bean a 42 year old guy on a team that just took you 21-2 for the season series. There are some rules that are unwritten...and there are some rules set in stone.

Maholm had zero personality in Pittsburgh, so I'm sure that hasn't changed, and McCann has already proved he's a douche, I wish Gomez would have plowed over him.

So Gomez flapping his gums the moment the ball left his bat pretty much lets him off the hook? Watch the video to the end when he starts mouthing off getting into the batters box w/ McCann.

I was hoping Freeman would body check Gomez as he was rounding first ala Belle/Vina

I actually think the Braves are in the right here. Your team sucks, a handful of games left in the season and you hit a 1st inning dinger. Big fucking deal. Run the bases and keep your mouth shut. Act like you've been there, not like you just won game 7 of the World Series. This goes for the bat flipping for Cleveland, too. Giambi is a different story because it was a walk-off, in my mind.

Gomez is finally turning into a decent guy at the dish, but just because you've discovered your power doesn't mean you have to be an asshole about it. Run the bases, it wasn't that special.

Imagine Maholm fist pumping after each strikeout. Same difference.

Supposedly Gomez feels like Maholm hit him deliberately with a pitch back in June.

Even if he did, still majorly Bush League by Gomez.

If the guy hits you, then you hit him out - that's all the retribution you need - no need to act like a world class tool as well.

This is as much of a reaction as you need after a guy hits you with a pitch.

Peter Gammons tweeted that Salazar's fastball was between 96.7 and 99.2mph last night. He's stuck out well over a guy an inning. He's been outstanding and he's probably gonna make a gajillion dollars in the next 20 years.

But he's a rookie.

And that means you dress for the last road trip like this:
