Supposedly raining steadily at US Cellular right now and the forecast calls for 50%+ chance of rain in Chicago from now until about 11pm local time. So, they might not actually end up playing this one.

We shall see.

That's a bold-ass lineup to throw out there when every, single game is a big game.

I dig the right handed heavy deal, but damn.

Big balls to throw those names out there today.

Bold, but it gives us some big bullets on the bench in what is likely to be a closely pitched game

No estimated start time as yet.

Hoynes has said on Twitter that they might announce a start time at 6pm ET (that doesn't mean the start time will be 6pm, just that they could announce it then) - Hoynes said the same thing at 3pm and 4pm though, so who knows.

Storms supposed to stop about 6pm, so if it has stopped raining, you'd figure they'll need 30-60 mins to clean up the field and get it ready for play.

So, in short, at best an hour from now. More likely 1.5 hours - never.

Rangers lose, Rays lose.

Would be a great game to win after such a long delay.

Ballgame!

4 game sweep and now only 0.5 game out of both wild card spots.

Big series coming up in KC before what you would call 3 "favourable" series against HOU, CWS and MIN.

Four-gamer for Texas and TB now. Root for one team to sweep the other? Hope for a split? Three of four for one of them?

Indians winning is the most important scenario, but what do we want in the other series?

Thinking the same thing. I'm going with sweep or 3 or 4. I want one team put behind the 8-ball after this series. But of course we need to at least take 2 of 3 at KC for it to matter.

I think you gotta root for either a 4 game sweep or for one to take 3 of 4. That kinda basically helps separate and possibly eliminate 1 team from the field

Honestly, I don't care who we play. I am more concerned about getting that wild-card game held at The Jake more than anything. It would really suck to watch them lose game #163 on the road. We all know what kind of October Magic The Jake had seen in its years.
"Cocaine is a hell of a drug" - Originated from a famous skit in Dave Chappelle's "Chappelle's Show". The skit would portray Rick James, usually high on cocaine, preforming doing crazy and stupid things, such as smacking Charlie Murphy in the face. Rick James would frequently explain away his actions by saying "Cocaine is a hell of a drug".

This is it boys. After the series with KC we finish against the league's 3 worst teams. If we don't make the post season I will get a tattoo of A-Rod on my face

Nice to know that a win against KC tonight puts us into a WC spot no matter what.
The other WC contenders are beating up on each other a lot in the final 2 weeks. Rays playing Rangers, Rays against O's and O's having to play Boston etc

I can't see us not qualifying. I just don't know who I would want in the WC game though.

Price would be in line to start the wild card game, unless Tampa had to play a tiebreaker or used Price on short rest trying to secure a spot.

Darvish is in line to pitch the season finale against Anaheim. Martin Perez pitched yesterday, but we'd likely see tonight's starter Matt Garza on a little bit of short rest.

You are assuming Darvish would get the start but I agree but on the other hand you have David Price potentially as well sooooo pick your poison.

I would be estatic that they just got in.

If Texas is in it Darvish doesn't go that last game. Only way he throws then is if the Rangers are out or has to have that game to get in. IMO.

When is the one game playoff? Wednesday that week? Could make a big difference in whether teams reshuffle their rotations or not to get their ace ready. Also, I am beyond thrilled to be discussing this on September 16.

Why are we even discussing this? The Browns played yesterday, people. Prioritize.

AL Wild Card game would be Wednesday October 3. Darvish would pitch on 9/29, so he could go on short rest if need be.

Wild card tiebreaker would be played on 9/30. HFA would be head-to-head winning percentage. Indians own HFA tiebreaker over Texas. Do not over TB.

And for what it's worth, Texas' schedule after this 4 gamer with Tampa is easier than the Rays' schedule. Rangers go @KC for 3, HOU for 3, and LAA for 4. Rays go BAL for 4, @NYY for 3, and @TOR for 3.

But Tampa is playing better than Texas right now so I think I'd call it a wash. I think 89 wins (8-5 finish) ties us for the last spot and 90 wins gets it outright (hosting it if we tie Texas at 90 and the Rays are out). And how do they handle a 3 way tie for the 2 spots? Best round robin record gets to choose between 2 games at home or one on the road? Or do they set the mini-bracket by coinflip?

2. Three Clubs Do Not Have Identical Records Against One Another

• If Club 1 has a better record against Clubs 2 and 3, and Club 2 has a better record against Club 3, then Club 1 chooses its designation, followed by Club 2.

• If Club 1 has a better record against Clubs 2 and 3, and Club 2 and 3 have identical records against one another, then Club 1 chooses its designation. Clubs 2 and 3 would follow the two-Club tiebreak rules to break their tie to pick the next designation.

• If Club 1 and 2 have identical records against one another, but each has a better record against Club 3, then Clubs 1 and 2 would follow the two-Club tiebreak rules to break their tie to pick the first designation.

• If Club 1 has a better record against Club 2, Club 2 has a better record against Club 3, and Club 3 has a better record against Club 1; OR Club 1 has a better record against Club 2, Club 2 and 3 have identical records against one another and Club 3 has a better record against Club 1; OR Club 1 and 2 have identical records against one another, Club 1 has a better record against Club 3 and Club 2 and 3 have identical records against one another, then:

a. The Clubs will be ranked by their overall winning percentage amongst the other Clubs combined. The Club with the highest overall winning percentage in that group chooses its designation, followed by the team with the next highest overall winning percentage.

b. If two of the Clubs have identical winning percentages, then they would follow the two-Club tiebreak rules to break their tie to pick their designation.

c. If all three teams have identical winning percentages, then the tiebreak rules above (No. 1) for three clubs having identical records against one another should be followed.

Three-Club Tie for Two Wild Card Spots:
After Clubs have been assigned their A, B and C designations, Club A would host Club B on Monday, Sept. 30 (tentatively). The winner of the game would be declared one Wild Card winner. Club C would then host the loser of the game between Club A and Club B on Tuesday, Oct. 1 (tentatively) to determine the second Wild Card Club.
