Jason Kubel Trade

Unread postby peeker643 » Fri Aug 30, 2013 10:47 am

I guess with the year Kubel is having this is the best part of the deal:

The Diamondbacks will pay the "vast majority" of Kubel's remaining salary and buyout and will be getting a lower-tier prospect from Cleveland in the trade, the source said.

Here's hoping for a miracle turnaround.

Buy low platoon for Stubbs. Kubel sucks all around this season, but is a career .275/.339/.485/.825 against right handed pitching. He's a pretty horrible outfielder, so they'll have to pick and choose when they trot him out there.

It's a "meh" kind of move.

Pirates get Morneau, they were just about a lock to get in, but this should seal it, and for no one at that, unless the PTBNL is decent.

I do believe they received Alex Presley.. he's like a weaker version of Jason Michaels.

Pirates GM Neal Huntington said that the PTBNL is "significant".

seriously, that's all it took to get justin morneau was a 4th outfielder and a prospect??? meanwhile the tribe has a gaping hole the size of lake erie in the middle of their batting order that morneau would have filled just fine and the tribe couldn't come up with a better package??? sad. this is why pittsburgh will make the playoffs and the tribe will not.

Not gonna argue Kubel v. Morneau but neither is filling any gaping hole in any lineup at this point.

Maybe not, but Pittsburgh is at least going all in and I give them credit for that.

Me too.

But change te landing spots for Kubel and Morneau and you cou could say the exact same thing and I'd be just as underwhelmed with the Indians getting Morneau.

For all intents and purposes, Morneau is freaking Swisher in terms of production.
