Reynolds DFA

Unread postby Adverb Harry » Thu Aug 08, 2013 11:39 am

It's not been officially announced, but this is starting to make its rounds on Twitter. Guess it was easy to see this coming with the Raburn news yesterday.

I miss Jamie Carroll.

Although Rayburn does a good job of easing that pain.

If Jamey Carroll were still on this team, no way would we be six games behind the Tigers. Not a doubt in my mind. That dude would single-handedly carry us to the postseason on his massive, powerful back.

My wife still remembers him as the "shockingly ugly one"

She did keep confusing him with Wedge though.

There are lines even you can cross. You're straddling one now.

Why?

He's not on the roster because of expectations that he'll produce on a daily basis. He's on the roster because he's a veteran who is able to handle the infrequent at bats in high leverage situations and because he's great counsel in the clubhouse and a veteran leader.

That spot is his unless the Indians are hopelessly buried in the next three weeks and they do him a favor and deal him to a contender before AUG 31 to potentially help one in September. He makes $750k this season and is probably owed about 1/3 of that for the rest of the year.

He's in no danger of being DFA'd unless it's part of that waiver-type deal mentioned earlier.

Not in my estimation anyway.

Is a move coming for a bat then?

Reynolds being DFA'd was almost inevitable at this stage but, can we play the remainder with only a 3-man bench, one of which being a DH only?

Nothing down in AAA to help.

Anything is possible, but one high-ranking baseball source believes there is "zero chance" that Indians are claiming team on Alex Rios.

Matt LaPorta will get another chance. And it'll be different this time.

Reynolds homered in his first AB for the Yankees.

Surest bet ever. And you can just here John Sterling at that other man/woman broadcaster go on for the rest of the inning on how Cleveland was foolish for giving up on him and how he was stolen by the Yankees.
