TCF fantasy football'13 DRAFT Order question -

TCF fantasy football league 2013

2012 League Champion - 800lb Gorilla Chainsaw - Jcoz
2011 League Champion - Fear and Loathing - rebelwithoutaclue
2010 League Champion - Gotribe31

Below are my rules from last season, I want to open it up for comments and requests for changes.

Swerb if you could pin this up in a couple places that would be helpful.

We will use ESPN to host the league (which is free) to maximize the payouts:
The draft will most likely occur between Aug 30th and Sept 5th, pending board vote.

If you wish to play in this league, please respond to this thread AND send the following information via PM to me

1. Name
2. Method of payment and date of sending

Payments must be received before the Draft and checks, money order or that popular online payment method are accepted (PM me for info on what email to send it to that way, I can't list it publicly anymore)

Send checks/money orders to:
John Colosimo
433 Old line Ave
Laurel, MD 20724

Buy-in

$100 Buy in + $25 for unlimited transactions (required), so it is $125 total for each team.

Payments must

Payouts

Division champs will pay out $100
Playoff teams will pay out $50
1st-4th will pay out by remaining pot %'s below

1st 50%
2nd 30%
3rd 12.5%
4th 7.5%

Schedule Setup:

In a 12 team Conference it will be split into 2 divisions. The regular season stops after week 12.

Winner of each division will get a bye for week 13, the 4 wildcards face off week 13, each Conference will have its champion after week 15.

This league is set up with a heavy emphasis placed on divisional play.

2 Divisions - You will play each team in your division twice and play 2 games against the other division.

Division record will determine division champion, with the following as the tie break order:

1. Division Record
2. Overall Record
3. H2H record
4. Total Points scored for the season

So be aware, there is a scenario in which a 10-2 team could win the division over an 11-1 team, but there is no scenario in which a 9-3 team could win a division over an 11-1 team.

While the league is fairly standard in terms of scoring, there is one significant twist that I have added: In the playoffs, home teams will get a three point advantage

This is how the playoffs will be seeded:

Each division will get 2 wild cards, no division will get more wild cards than another:

After playoff teams are decided, all conference playoffs teams will be seeded together using slightly different tie breakers:

1. Division winner
2. Overall record
3. H2H Record
4. Total Points scored for season

Div winners will get the byes regardless of overall record

Example standings end of year using the above tie breaks:
Div 1
1. Team 1 - 10-2 (10-0)*
2. Team 2 - 11-1 (9-1)*
3. Team 3 - 10-2 (8-2)*
4. Team 4 - 4-8 (2-8)
5. Team 5 - 2-10 (1-9)
6. Team 6 - 1-11 (0-10)

Div 2
1. Team 7 - 8-4 (8-2)*
2. Team 8 - 8-4 (7-3)*
3. Team 9 - 7-5 (6-4)*
4. Team 10 - 4-8 (4-6)
5. Team 11 - 3-9 (3-7)
6. Team 12 - 2-10 (2-8)

Playoff seeding would would be as follows in this scenario:

1)Team 1 - 10-2 (10-0)*
2)Team 7 - 8-4 (8-2)*
3)Team 2 - 11-1 (9-1)*
4)Team 3 - 10-2 (8-2)
5)Team 8 - 8-4 (7-3)
6)Team 9 - 7-5 (6-4)

Rd 1
#6 at #3(+3) - #6 wins
#5 at #4(+3) - #4 wins

Rd 2 (reseed if necessary, top seed will face bottom seed)
#6 at #1(+3) - #1 wins
#4 at #2(+3) - #4 wins

Rd 3
#4 at #1(+3) - #4 wins the Conference advances to League Championship, #1 "advances" to Consolation Final

**There will be no Home/Away teams for the League Championship or Final Consolation game**

Each Conference will be split the following way:

Using draft order:

Div 1 - 1,4,5,8,9,12
Div 2 - 2,3,6,7,10,11

Just as an aside, some people have voiced displeasure over not playing everyone in the league, once we get a sizable number of commits, we will put it to a vote as to whether it not we should continue as currently shown, one idea I had was to play everyone once and then have a wild card round then 2 week playoff games for the semis and finals, or two week playoff games for the duration. Something to chew on

Spots are filling fast so we will continue to take names past 12 and if it gets to 20 we will split into 2-10 team conferences with an offline championship game like we had 4-5 seasons ago.

3. Spicy Beef Fujitas
4. Terry Tate
5. Rally Caps
6. Ocho

What I'm getting from some of last years guys is that two issues will be up for vote:

1. Change to a one-conference setup where each team plays the other at least once - I'm still looking for the right way to do this, I'll edit this post with an actual alternative soon.

2. Adding PPR to the scoring system

So we need to get commitments as soon as possible, to take the votes.

Just a friendly observation, but if there are people complaining about the scheduling, I do 4 divisions of 3 each in my 12 team league and it works pretty well. You play both teams in your division twice and everyone else once in a 13 game schedule, division winners are seeded 1-4 and wild card teams are seeded 5-6. Wild card games in week 13, 2nd round games in week 14, and championship in week 16. In 6 years we've only had 1 time where a division winner made the playoffs over a potential wild card team with a better record.

Thanks Kingpin, this actually looks great, there is actually only 2 people with complaints, but this seems like a good solution.

BLUF, to get a reception a dude must fend off a defender, and catch the ball. Its a skill which in a non-PPR league, is completely ignored.

PPR rewards you for drafting WRs/TEs who may not be flashy, but are good in the clutch, and sure handed i.e. A 5 yard catch on 3rd and 4 wont matter much in a non PPR league, but its huge in a game.

I also like it b/c it rewards your pass catching RBs, which is becoming a big part of the modern game. It also raises the value of lower end players , which adds more strategy to the game , especially late in the season when injuries and weather starts to take its toll.

Most of the time its 1 point per reception, but I have also seen 0.5 points used allot, it all depends on how you score the rest of the categories.

PPR going to be 0.5 or 1.0 per reception? I would be in favor of 0.5 but might need convincing on 1.0.

With the scoring in this league , 0.5 is reasonable, also a good starting point for players not accustomed to PPR to get their feet wet.

As usual I like to make the draft as late as humanly possible so no one ends up drafting players who blow out knees in the preseason, and so people can scout a bit during preseason for sleepers.

So if everyone can post open nights they have for the draft we can start to nail down the date.

NFL regular Season opens on Thursday the 5th of Sept for reference.

So if everyone can post open nights they have for the draft we can start to nail down the date.

NFL regular Season opens on Thursday the 5th of Sept for reference.

Are you looking at the last week of Aug , or the 4 days before the first game in September.

I am free pretty much every day after 5:30p EST last week of AUG with the exception of the 29th (Thursday)and 31st (Saturday)

Just sent you the entry fee via Paypal, JCoz.

The Sunday before the start of the season will work best for me. I'll update you on my schedule later as I know it but there's a good chance I'll have a class on two of the weekday nights (either M/W or T/TH).

Maybe the Sunday before, the 1st possibly or I suppose maybe the 2nd given that's Labor day, but we will see what everyone is open for...

Guys I've gotten some word that more people wanted to join, I have approximately 18 people total at this point, that is very close to enough to go back to 2-10 team confeences like we had 4-5 years ago.

We would have 4 playoff teams each with weeks 14 and 15 determining the conference champs, and week 16 as the "championship" which would be scored offline.

Does anyone have an issue with this being offered? The prize pool about doubles, so plenty of incentive.

I'd prefer Monday night; will probably be getting drunk the Sunday before Labor Day.
