Agree. I have to say, I'm really surprised with how Gomes is swinging the bat given the sporadic playing time of a backup catcher. Normally young guys struggle in that role, but he's been really productive when given the chance.

The league will adjust. He's averaging only 1.2 balls per plate appearance, mostly because his chase rate is at 38.2%. I know pitchers are hesitant to throw him breaking balls because walking him to roll over the order is a bad idea, but he'll start getting a steadier diet of offspeed stuff, and it's unlikely that he'll suddenly become a more patient hitter. We'll see how he adjusts.

His weaknesses as a hitter would get exposed pretty quickly if he played every day. Why change what's working now?

I realize that this is a movie quote, from a shitty movie at that, but I find no reason to believe that a bird could carry 6.4 times its body weight. I don't believe there are any sabermetrics to support my position, so you'll have to take my word for it.

You should be banned.

I guess there's no point in asking the "husk" line.

Go calculate the average number of bounces it takes Drew Stubbs to get the ball to the infielder. Then go fuck yourself.

Christ, man. If you're going to drop quotes from bad movies, at least get the wording right.

They don't keep stats for how many bounces it takes to get to an infielder. But, Stubbs's ground ball stats are interesting, if you'd like to hear about them.

And yes, that movie is tremendous.
