I just went to RCF for the first time in my life. Not a fan of the layout, but I can get used to it I guess. Helluva lot more activity than TCF, that's for sure. Too much activity if you ask me.

Did he retire from this board for the third time today? Or just the second?

Donkey Boy reminds me of the little kid who gets mad, picks up his ball, announces loudly to all the other kids that he's going home and starts stomping out of the room, expecting to hear a chorus of protests and entreaties to stay. When none are forthcoming, he stops and again announces even more loudly that he's leaving and pretends to leave. Again, no response. So he stomps out in a huff only to return five minutes later acting like nothing happened.

He'll be back as soon as Bynum signs with somebody, if not sooner. Maybe he'll post some more cool pictures.

He embarrassed himself and the Lakers franchise during the 2011 playoffs against Dallas when he was ejected during Game 4 of the Western Conference semifinals after delivering a flagrant 2 foul on Mavericks guard J.J. Berea.

No shit. I can't believe anyone could possibly bitch about signing Bynum for $6mil plus possible incentives and a team option. That's a great effing deal.

I love the deal. It works for both sides. The Cavs don't give up too much if he's hurt and Bynum can make a ton. Great move. My friend is still trying to convince me that hiring Mike Brown was the right move. He is now trying to tell me that without Mike Brown, Bynum doesn't sign here. He signed here because of the cash. Period.

Why do you hate it? If he can't go why is that such a bad deal? It's $6 mil down the drain. Not a catastrophe.

Seems really Cavs friendly to me.

Hell, if it doesn't work, the Cavs spent 6 million this year they would've used on a couple of scrubs. They're still well under the cap, and there aren't the people out there that would be worth spending it on with the roster that's already set.

What the hell is this now, Cleveland attracting (and getting) name free agents? First Swish and Bourn, now Bynum?

He has attitude issues, borderline quitter IMO. I would rather this young roster not be exposed to that if possible, but who knows maybe we already have a guy like that just waiting to show us.

The two reasons I would be giddy about it, if he is healthy and up to par it is a great piece that puts the Cavs atop the young hopeful rosters to land a FABron, and if we don't land him then it shows they're not putting all their hopes on him and they're trying to win without him.

I would have been giddy about him a year ago, but then we would be Philly now and anxious to kick him out the door. Now, though, we have a much better chance of success with him. Now that its a year later, maybe the guy knows everyone in the league is questioning his heart and he knows this is his chance to prove everyone wrong.

Maybe now, more than ever, we need a vet-leader on this squad. I love Andy and how Andy approaches the game, but can he be that leader? We need someone who's been there, done that.

Yep. 25yr old, potential All-Star 7-footer. $6mil at stake in a market where fucking JJ Hickson just got $5mil/yr.

If Bennet pans out and Kyrie & Bynum stay relatively healthy, this could be a hell of a team. How likely is that? Shrugs! But it sure beats checking our watches for the next piece of shit ownership group to take over the BORWNS.

Bynum put up 19 and 12 under Brown. If he wants another big contract, going to a coach who he knows knows how to utilize him could be the edge over the other deals.

Great signing for the Cavs. No risk/ huge reward. If he and Andy can put together about 20min a piece at the 5 spot and Bennett isn't a total flop, that could be the best front court in the east. Hibbert/West is probably a better starting unit (unless Bynum is 100% 2011 Bynum), but Bynum/TT/Andy/Bennett/Zeller rotation is crazy versatile.

If Bynum and Andy can stay healthy (by some miracle) then the Cavs have added Bynum, Andy, Bennett, and Clark to their front line this off-season. Gawd. And Jack to their backcourt. And all they've lost so far is Speights, Ellington, and Livingston, although it appears Boobie will also be moving on.

Pretty damn impressive. Grant is definitely earning his pay.

Now there's a rebuttal to anyone who says no significant free agent will ever sign in Cleveland. Although you could make the case that the only reason we were able to get him is because he's damaged goods.

Bynum's agent described the Cavs as a team with no negatives. "It was the best situation," Lee said. "The team looks terrific. We could not find a negative."

Now we'll find out. I hope they put a no bowling clause in the contract. And a mandatory attendance at time outs clause, too.

If Bynum plays we have a guy who can bang with the more physical centers in the East like Drummond and Lopez. It was painful watching Zeller trying to contain those monsters. Now we have one of our own, IF he plays.

If Bynum is healthy for 41 games and Andy is healthy for the other 41, and one of them is OK for the playoffs, then the deal will be worth it.

In the best case scenario (which is probably a pipe dream) I can see this rotation:

Starters:

PG Kyrie
SG Waiters
SF Clark
PF Andy
C Bynum

Bench:

PG: Jack
SG: Karasev
SF: Gee/Miles
PF: TT/Bennett
C: Zeller/TT

That front line coming off the bench is last year's starting front line after Andy went down.

I'm wondering how Brown is going to find enough minutes if everybody is available. He'll have Bynum, Andy, and Zeller at center with Andy, TT, and Bennettt at power forward. At small forward he's got Clark, Gee, and Miles. Where is he going to find enough minutes to keep everybody happy?

I could see trading Andy, but his value is down due to injuries. I could see trading TT, but for what? Another guard to go with Kyrie, Waiters, Jack, and Karasev?

My guess is that Zeller is the odd man out. Brown will likely play Bynum and Andy at center (limiting Bynum to about 24 mpg to try and protect his degenerative knees). TT and Bennett will split time at PF. Clark will start at SF with either Gee or Miles coming off the bench, depending on whether Brown wants offense or defense that game. Zeller will get garbage time until Bynum or Andy goes down.

Well, now we know why Bynum chose the Cavs. Neither Dallas or Atlanta offered him a contract.

http://www.ohio.com/news/top-stories/cavs-set-the-stage-for-2014-with-andrew-bynum-signing-1.412314

So I guess we can continue to say that no significant free agent will ever come to Cleveland, the exception being if he's so damaged that nobody else offers him a contract.

Sorry if any of this was common knowledge.

One of the Cavs' execs was asked about Bynum's knees. "They're both bad," was the response.

Looks to me like they're hoping to get one decent year out of him. The team option for '14-'15 is for $12 million.

That signing was fine. It was smart and it's not a great deal of risk for Cavs. Laughable to consider Bynum as the free agent prize cherry that broke 40+ yr run of none ever coming here.

That said, I'll set over/under on total games played by Bynum/Kyrie/Varejao for whatever reasons at 82. And I'll happily take the under. 3 China Dolls. Only one of whom works his balls off to rehab and work out.

Good signing at those terms whether or not any other teams wanted him or not.

3 high potential players but all of them are made out of glass. Maybe we should put the trainers or team doctors on the TCF banner?

I'll also say that the jack wagons who assumed the Cavs and Chris Grant would get rolled and over pay severely on this deal should at least have the decency to take their heads out of their asses and apologize. That's a smart deal. Giving away nothing and no downside in terms of earning his money.

Or maybe the fact that Dallas is in win now mode for Dirk and w/o a significant backup for Bynum, he'd be expected to play 35+ min a night. He may have found the depth that Cleve has to be more appealing and less stress on his body. No one knows unless they are in the kid's head.

The fact that the terms of the deal were "made public" yesterday that only $6 mil was guaranteed when he was meeting with Dallas showed me something. They weren't going to get in a bidding war for his services. It was pretty much here's our offer but we're pursuing other options while you are visiting these other cities.

I don't see how anyone could possibly criticize this deal. Do you know what 1 year and 6 mill buys you in today's NBA? Not much. And the team option on top of it is pretty rare for a player of Bynum's caliber, injured or not.

Plus it gets them to the Salary Cap Floor without having to do something stupid.

Didn't the Cavs just get done paying Luke Walton $6 million last year? Something tells me the risk/reward for this contract is a little higher than that one.

Nice to see these 2 aspects of the recruitment

CLEVELAND, Ohio -- A little more than a week ago, Andrew Bynum answered the phone without knowing the call would alter his future.

But after the 7-foot center with suspect knees talked to Cavaliers coach Mike Brown -- the same coach who guided Bynum to his best season in the NBA -- he was ready to not only listen to any free-agent offers from Cleveland, but also place the Cavaliers among the leading contenders for his services.

The result, after fielding offers from three teams over the course of three days this week, was that Bynum agreed to terms for a two-year deal with the Cavaliers on Wednesday. The incentive-laden contract is worth a guaranteed $6 million in the first season, and includes a team option for the second year, according to a league source. In all, if goals are met, it could be worth up to $24 million.

"Whatever Mike said, Andrew got off the phone and was actually excited to take the meeting," said David Lee, Bynum's agent, Wednesday evening. "I kid Mike that he should go into motivational speaking, but Andrew was extremely motivated and extremely excited."

The Cavaliers not only offered the prospect of being reunited with Brown, but the opportunity to rebuild in Cleveland with All-Star point guard Kyrie Irving -- who texted Bynum for all of Monday and most of Tuesday encouraging him to sign with the Cavaliers.
