Masterson vs. Tillman

No line-ups 'cause I'm something like 10-1 without 'em.

Could be a low-scoring 1 run affair

Luckily we have the best record in baseball in such games

Boston CBS sports reporting that according to Jason Stark both Boston and the Detroit Tigers are in negotiations with Philly to acquire Papalbon. Tony Maz is giving the edge to the Tigers. Hmm...

Phils playing this very smart by doing it now. With those two teams you have an opportunity to drive up the price with both and never know, maybe a 3rd team can come into the fold and sweeten it further.

To me, Papelbon is meh.
Playing here is the closest thing to heaven. Really, I mean it's amazing to be in a place where the fans truly cherish their football team and stick behind them win or lose. We players love them, too. I feel a sense of accomplishment playing here, we are a special breed of football players with a great opportunity." ~ tOSU LB Brian Rolle

Agreed.

That said, "Meh" is leaps and bounds beyond their current closer situation ;-) ;)

We've been waiting the best part of 3 months to see a swing like that from Lonnie..... shame no one behind him could get a run home.

Masty's got the sharp slider working in the early going.

Let's hope the missed chances in the first two innings don't come back to bite us here and we can tack some more runs on against Tillman.

I've got no problem with how long Masterson was out there.... it fell apart in a hurry. But, the two pitches to Davis and Casilla were terrible.

At least the Angels are pounding Detroit so far tonight.

Too bad, it looked like we were going to steal a win and clinch at least a tie in this series.

No reason to take Masterson out after six dominant innings. He sure fell apart fast with the hit batter, the four-pitch walk, and the two awful pitches that got hammered.

I can't believe he gave up a HR to a benchwarmer who weighs 170 pounds and hasn't hit a HR yet this year. That was possibly the worst pitch he's ever thrown. Francona probably should have pulled him after the HR to Davis followed by a walk and a lucky checked swing infield hit. But I can see how he'd rather go with Masterson than bring in Hags with two on and one out.

Kipnis is just amazing right now. 2-for-2 tonight with a pair of walks, and another HR. It reminds me of when Raburn went 12-for-14 earlier this year. Kipnis is 9-for-14 in his last four games.

Manager is all about perception.

We like Francona, so no big deal.

If Wedge would've left him in this thread would we ape-shit central.

Saw a tweet

Something about Masterson's ERA good in innings 1-6, but >10.00 in inning 7 this season.

With a lead, you ensure he leaves the 7th before coughing it up.
How bout: if Francona lets it happen again, we'll grab the pitchforks!

Little bit of cherry picking there. 14 IP isn't exactly a big sample size.

Shit happens and it happened last night. Move on tonight and hope Kazmir can somehow navigate through six decent innings in a park that is not at all conducive to his numbers this season.
