Yeah he would be an instant upgrade, but I don't like him

Well, if Amico is reporting it, you can pretty much take it to the bank, right?

Actually I did hear that rumor earlier today.

Meh,that'd be fine I guess. One year rental, and not like the Cavs want to bring 4 rookies into the fold next year. Unless there are some great Euros who would be available there that they could stash overseas...

I heard Shawn Marion for a one-year rental. Not excited about either. If either are the key to making the playoffs, I'd rather develop new players.

A version of the Shawn Marion rumor has us moving up from 19 to 13 as well in the deal. This article states that the Cavs are targeting Sergey Karasev with the 13th pick. Many mocks have Sergey Karasev available at 19.

I met Clyde Frazier at a promotional event at the NBA Store in NYC a couple years ago. I asked him if I could take a picture with him, and he offered to hold up his rings for the camera. When I told him no thanks, I'm a Cavs fan, his immediate response was "well then this is your only opportunity to ever see a ring!".

He then told me he has fond memories of Cleveland. Until that point I never even knew he played for the Cavs.

Not sure he ever actually "played". He was here. Had some weird toe issue IIRC.

Clyde: cavs :: keith hernandez : Tribe, altho mitigating factor is hernandez took money as an FA to be here before he never played.

I hope there is truth to the Deng to Cleveland rumours though. I'd take him in a heartbeat but then I am a bit biased as a Brit. Nonetheless he is a slick point scorer. Gee looks destined to come off the bench next season that's for sure

Renouncing all their FAs plus a couple small creative moves gets them enough room to sign Howard even if they keep Marion. Even if that's not the case, they still wouldn't need to throw in the #13 along with Marion to make the move. Straight up Marion for #19 should be enough.

Looks like a trade for Houston's PF, Robinson, is imminent

We're not talking a Luke Walton type here, where a team has to add a sweetener to rid themselves of a bad player with a bad contract. Shawn Marion can and will still contribute on both ends of the floor to whatever team he ends up on, and won't clog up your flexibility going forward. You're right, the CAVS wouldn't want Marion without an incentive, but plenty of teams would.

Teams that can absorb his salary because they are far enough below the cap don't want him w/out incentive though. That's the thing.

IDK how much his salary is an issue given our inability to sign a FA.

He was at 12.7 PPG and 7.8 boards in in 30 minutes. Shot over 50% from the field and 31% from the arc.

Gee is 10 & 4, shoots the same from the arc and shoots only 41% from the field.

Improvement but not a building block.

And that's it in a nutshell right there.

Cavs- "WTF are we gonna do with that guy?"

Mavs- "We'll give ya #13 if you take him because we don't want to pay that coin-flip either."

^ and ^^^^. Gotta realize with a punishing luxury tax and a few teams manuvering for Howard the late first and early seconds have much more value. These (Marion and Pierce) are ending deals and either play out well and leade a young team to the playoffs, we still lose games and flip the contracts at the deadline, or worst case we just wind up paying them and they come off the books for 2014.

Well this is fanciful

The Cavs offered the top pick in the draft, Tristan Thompson and Dion Waiters for Kevin Love, according to ESPN.com.
Trade rumors are fun, but take this with a teaspoon of salt. This package clearly isn't going to be enough to pry one of the league's best power forwards. The Cavs aren't really tied to any specific player with the first overall pick, so it makes a lot of sense that they would try and deal it. Even though Love is coming off a disastrous year, shooting 35.2 percent from the field in only 18 games, he still has top-five fantasy upside.
