Nice first inning against some AAA pitcher. What did he throw, about six pitches? Tito better have the excuses ready for the post-game.

"Well, we had never seen him before."
"His stuff was good."
"He really kept us off-balance."
"He showed a lot of poise."
"Blah, blah, blah"
Bottom 4th: Cleveland
- J. Kipnis grounded out to shortstop
- A. Cabrera doubled to deep left
- N. Swisher doubled to center, A. Cabrera scored
- J. Giambi doubled to deep right center, N. Swisher to third, N. Swisher out at home
- J. Giambi caught stealing, catcher to third

1 run, 3 hits, 0 errors

Kipnis should have hit Scott with the ball there. The runner has to get out of the way if he's out.

Well hell this is fun! So much better than the first game of today's "double header". And these guys better make it exciting - I'm falling asleep in my cup of tea from staying up to hear game one.

That kid who dropped Cabrera's HR should have been douchy and worn a glove...

Francona let Ubaldo pitch the 9th?

Francona let Ubaldo pitch the 9th?

Sure...why not? Let him go for the complete game shutout.

Unless Ubaldo told Tito he was done, I disagree with bringing in Pestano for the ninth unless they want him to get the work.

For a bit there I was afraid Pestano thought he was Chris Perez. Glad he found himself again. Ballgame! Got a split of today's double header. ;-) ;)

Great game by Jimenez today. I never thought I'd see this guy twirl 8 shutout innings at any point in his career. Still not sold on his supposed resurrection, but if he can do something like this another twenty or so times this year, I'd be happy. That's not too much to ask, is it?
Bottom 4th: Cleveland
- J. Kipnis grounded out to shortstop
- A. Cabrera doubled to deep left
- N. Swisher doubled to center, A. Cabrera scored
- J. Giambi doubled to deep right center, N. Swisher to third, N. Swisher out at home
- J. Giambi caught stealing, catcher to third

1 run, 3 hits, 0 errors

Jimenez was at 108 pitches. He wasn't coming back out, extra day of rest before his next start or not. No reason to go 120 in a 5-0 game with a guy who has a history of spotty command and inconsistent mechanics.

Nice win. Get the series tomorrow.

I was looking at the other side of this. He wasn't struggling even at 108 (although it was the first time he has gone 8.0 this year). I thought it might help his psyche to get the CG shutout. Pulling him there was probably the right move though.

Nice to see Vinnie up to 93 mph again.

Archer has some good stuff and got up to 99 mph, but hung a couple of breaking balls at the wrong time to the wrong guys.

In Ubaldo's last eight starts he has given up two runs or less in seven of them. I'll take that all year long. I've said it before - sign Callaway to a lifetime contract. Did anybody think Ubaldo could be fixed? Not anybody on this board.

That was hosed up last night. They charged fans full price for tickets for a 7 pm game, then play the game in the middle of the night. That game should have been cancelled and scheduled for today as part of a day/night doubleheader. AFAIC, they ripped off the fans.

^ based on today's forecast they would have been lucky to get both games in if they did this. No one wanted to have to play it last night but it was nice to see the players acknowledge the fans who sayed, even Longoria on twitter was impressed
