A bit of light humour to attempt to break up the misery of the last week of games

@ZackMeisel 1h
Joe Smith, joking, to Justin Masterson: "If we end up fighting tonight, you've got Broxton." #reds #indians

Watch for this scumbug Johnnie Baker to have an Indian drilled early--like in the top of the first, so that the idiot umps will issue warnings, and the Indians won't be able to retaliate. Baker pulled the same shit against the Pirates last year a day after Chapman drilled Andrew McCutchen for no reason. If I were Francona, I'd start Hagadone with direct orders to throw at their necks until he either drills someone, or he gets ejected.
Bottom 4th: Cleveland
- J. Kipnis grounded out to shortstop
- A. Cabrera doubled to deep left
- N. Swisher doubled to center, A. Cabrera scored
- J. Giambi doubled to deep right center, N. Swisher to third, N. Swisher out at home
- J. Giambi caught stealing, catcher to third

1 run, 3 hits, 0 errors

Looking like McAllister may hit somebody out of frustration.

This shit where Santana dives away from pitches is starting to piss me off. That pitch was a fastball on the outside corner and he was ducking. Grow a pair, dig in, and take some swings.

Edit: Starting to piss me off again*

Good thing Brett Myers is a self-proclaimed outlaw, otherwise he might be the next Indian to delete his Twitter...

Brett Myers ‏@TheOutlaw39 10m
“@MrTribeTime: @TheOutlaw39 do you see any hit batters tonight?” Depends on the situation but I would hope someone would send a message!

Michael Briggs ‏@briggsie2006 3m
@ctrent @TheOutlaw39 @MrTribeTime yeah but Brett Myers is also ok with hitting his wife.

Assuming Z-Mac retires Cozart to start the inning, I can see Votto getting one in the back in the bot 3rd.

Why would you hit a guy who had nothing to do with Swish getting buzzed?

Standard practice.... if you're trying to respond or send a message you either hit the guy at fault or you hit the oppositions best player.

Chapman ain't hitting, so that leaves Votto.

Exactly.

This whole "rules of baseball,"where you're supposed to throw a baseball at a guy..... Christ, Swisher was literally two feet from the offender yesterday. You wanna fight, fight. This "double top secret" idea of having someone else throw a baseball at another guy that had zero to do with it is about as redamndiculous as anything out there.

Perfect logic. I love the ole timey baseball rules. If you think about it, 1920 was probably a great time, other than prohibition of course.

Never said I agreed with the logic, just what I thought might happen - the logic being, if you act like a douche, you're potentially putting your best player at risk, so don't act like a Douche!!

Z-Mac just hasn't had a clean enough inning to give away the baserunner even if they were thinking of doing it.

Because it's the only sport where you can't lose whilst still playing well!

You lose a game because you either don't hit, don't pitch, don't play defense or your bullpen stinks (or a combination of those reasons)..... and none of them look good!

In large part because their offense--a supposed strength--goes on hiatus for long stretches for no good reason. Three runs in two games in this band-box ain't gonna win you many games.

And what was the result? Was it a successful bunt? Did the run score? Did it come back to hurt us?

They weren't turning a double play no matter if that ball was caught or not.

How, exactly, is that Francona's fault?

Well, it absolutely should have been a double play. Believe me, every team in baseball turns a double play on that popup, but the Indians didn't. Maybe it wasn't Francona's fault per se, but the Indians don't play very smart and it's getting tiresome.

There was no-one at 3B to double up Hannahan..... unless you think on a squeeze bunt that there's any reason whatsoever for Reynolds to break back to the 3B bag?!

Nobody was covering third and Choo was already back at 1B, hence why they got the force out by 40 feet at 2B.

Fuck sakes, man. Watch the damn game. They showed the replay. It would not have been a double play.

So a rough few games due to "Bad Managing" totally erases the way he had the team playing the previous 28 games, when they were the hottest team in baseball?

I was putting the kid to bed and I missed the squeeze play. But you guys convinced me to go back and watch it. I don't have any idea how that could have been a double play unless Reynolds doesn't charge the bunt down the 3rd base line, but I'm not sure why he would.

And that sure as shit isn't Francona's failure, lol.

Someone should have told Bryan Shaw not to groove pitches down the middle and give up 8 hits in a row.

Bad managing.

They really need a Herculean effort from Masterson tomorrow against a very difficult lineup for him. Patient and a lot of lefties. Good career numbers against them, but I'm skeptical.

Santana needs to be yanked. Our pitchers are having trouble pitching to him. He's just all around a poor catcher.

Bad managing.

Well, maybe it's just me, but when a batter pops a squeeze bunt a mile into the air...at that point, I would expect my third baseman to stroll back to the bag and wait for the pitcher to lob him the baseball to complete the double play. But if everyone else agrees that you should only get one out when a batter pops up a bunt on a suicide squeeze, then I guess I'm wrong.

And on to Santana...my goodness I don't know what the heck to say about his catching anymore. I'm not sure how much more they can keep trotting him out there to catch. He is beyond awful.

One more thing, Jeanmar Gomez is spinning a three-hitter through seven at Tiger Stadium tonight. 73 pitches.
Bottom 4th: Cleveland
- J. Kipnis grounded out to shortstop
- A. Cabrera doubled to deep left
- N. Swisher doubled to center, A. Cabrera scored
- J. Giambi doubled to deep right center, N. Swisher to third, N. Swisher out at home
- J. Giambi caught stealing, catcher to third

1 run, 3 hits, 0 errors

Quality AB from Santana in the 8th. Somebody needs to sit him down and tell him to get his head out of his fucking ass.

Do you have some sort of graph or chart that can validate your statement?

I'm sure I could come up with something.

I can do Photoshop jpgs and stuff, but I can't make .gif files, unfortunately. But that would be great.

Santana is worthless, he can't catch and he can't hit. We need to get Yan back behind the plate, Tribe has been slumping since Santana came back full time, so it would only make sense to put him in again. There is a direct correlation between Santana and the Indians losing.

And obviously the Reds are a good team, but its a combination of us running into some good teams while our pitching is bad(because Santana is screwing up behind the plate) and our hitters are somewhat pressing trying to combat that poor pitching. These would be 1 or 2 run affairs on each side if we had solid pitching right now. Terry has to do something with the lineup and bring Yan Gomes back, hopefully before its too late.
