Mark Reynolds needs to wear those shoes the remainder of the season. They're good luck

Career .313 hitter with the bases loaded coming into today.... better average with runners on than bases empty.... so there!

Hitting .320 to lead off an inning and .237 with RISP this season

so there

You're taking a 38 AB (RISP this season) sample as more significant than a 1159 AB (career with runners on, .312AVG) or 666 AB (career with RISP, .296AVG) sample for his career?!?!

Hmmmm, OK.

In the meantime Mega Mark comes through!

My initial comment was with reference to THIS season

Why would I care about past season situational hitting?

You've always been a bit 'off' with me, but you're just being a bell-end now and trying to show me up.

Who's being off?

I think you're being reactionary and making blanket statements based on 1AB, statements that the actual numbers show are historically wrong.... I guess I can point that out without throwing around insults though.

Wow, being stuck following on the computer today I am interested in the story with Perez but winning 2 out of 3 in Detroit is impressive.

Let's just hope he couldn't get loose.... like I said before, we might give him some shit but, being without him AND Pestano is going to make late innings pretty tough.

Tagged along with parents on casino trip for Mother's Day. Had to watch on ESPN Gamecast. So painful. Way more stressful than watching live.

Big win. Lot of heart and character on this ballclub.

Wow, we need to sign Reynolds to a contract extension pretty soon. He is on fire and has been playing great. We can't let him get away.

Game was great but I swear I just read two British dudes quibbling on a Cleveland website over an Indians game in Detroit. Truly an international affair, MLB. ;-) ;)

Reynolds is now hitting .462 with RISP and two out. And the Indians lead the league in that category.

This one looked like a loss all the way up until the 9th, but they found a way to pull it out. Getting that run off Valverde was sweet.

Chisenhall is in a world of hurt right now. He may have to go back down to AAA. He's 1-for-13 the last four games and hitting .182 on the season with runners on base. He's a human rally killer.

They're only playing him against right-handers and they gave him a couple of days off to work with the hitting coach, but nothing helps. The league has figured out that he can't hit a pitch on the outside corner other than to foul it off. He needs to start taking those pitches to left field.

No Rage or Vinnie - no problem. Rich Hill and Cody step up and nail it down.

Nice to have Bourn back. And how about Gomes? How can they send him down now? The Tribe is 12-2 when he plays. In fact, the last ten games Gomes has appeared in have all been wins! Even when he doesn't get three hits or gun down a base stealer by 10 feet the Indians win every time.

Like I said the other day, I'm trying to be patient with him, but I just can't do it. Aviles is a professional hitter. I love watching his at bats. He doesn't walk much, but he puts bat on ball, hits it where it's pitched, and has had some big RBIs in key spots. He's too good to be sitting on the bench while we watch Chisenhall step on his crank with the chance to be the everyday 3B.

Just got a chance to catch up on the game and the highlights. Fucking hate missing a game like that, but spending time with Mom is far more important.

Anyway, how about Zach McAllister? The job he did with the bases loaded to get Fat Miggy and Fat Fuck Fielder was outstanding. Last year, he caves in that spot. This year, he gives us a chance to win. What a phenomenal job of pitching. We're watching him grow up right before our eyes. He's not an ace. He's not a Cy Young candidate. But he's becoming a very high quality middle of the rotation arm.

If we go down 5-2 there, we're in trouble. But we claw back from 3-2, get one off that fat bastard Valverde and show a ton of character to grind one out in extras. Big stuff from guys like Rich Hill, Cody Allen, and Bryan Shaw. Two shutout innings from Shaw was another key. That's big when you're without Pestano and have to save Smith for your high leverage spots.

Calling a game a "team win" is pretty cliche, but this one was the definition of it.

Hes pulling everything, popping good pitches up, swinging at balls, and taking hittable pitches for strikes. He is the perfect storm of terrible right now.

The thing that has always scared me about Chisenhall was his perpensity to not draw walks, which I was scared and still am is a sign that his approach wont translate to the ML level, he isnt Vlad Guerrero. He is an aggressive hitter which is fine, if you have good to elite pitch selection/recognotion/plate discipline. He isnt showing that right now. He is young and its obvious the physical gifts and ability is there so hopefully just time and patience will iron out whatever mentally is going on.

Chisenhall is 1-for-12 when he hits the first pitch. That doesn't count the times when he swings at the first pitch and fouls it off or misses it. IOW, only one time this season has he swung at the first pitch and had something good happen, and he's probably swung at the first pitch at least 30 times. He really needs to stop swinging at the first pitch he sees.

Lately I've noticed he's taking more first pitches, but it hasn't translated into more hits.

If he takes ball one he's in much better shape. He's hitting .250/.833 in those at-bats where he gets ahead 1-0. I'll take that all day.

But the main thing is he needs to stop swinging at pitches out of the strike zone and also stop trying to pull pitches on the outside corner.

No doubt Chis could do with spending some more time on the bench and Aviles getting more ABs (Or perhaps Raburn with Reynolds playing some 3B).

But, I'm not sure I'd send him down to AAA.

He can spend time in the cages up in the Majors and working with the ML staff to try and turn things around otherwise all you'd be doing from a "right now" perspective is replacing him with Phelps on the ML roster which is a downgrade.

So, yeah, let him ride the pine for a while but I'd still try and fix him at the ML level.

If Lonnie Chisenhall = Andy Marte, then we need to put him in the bullpen.
