Do you think this guy is tuned in to Cleveland, or what?

The last time the Browns won an NFL championship was 1964. This feels distant to everyone in America except those living in Northeast Ohio. To them, it seems like last weekend. If you try to annoy a Browns fan by noting how Cleveland has never won a Super Bowl, he will tell you that they've actually won four titles (1950, '54, '55, and '64) and that the only problem is that the term "Super Bowl" had not yet been invented. He will go on to tell you that the greatest football player who ever lived was a Brown, and that his name was Brown, and that the greatest player who ever lived is still only the second-most important person named Brown in the history of the franchise. He will tell you that he'll always root for the Browns, under any circumstances, no matter what happens, forever.

And then he will proceed to tell you how much the Browns suck.

This is the central dichotomy of Cleveland football: No other fan base is so deeply loyal and so self-consciously negative at the same time. Locally, there just seems to be a universal belief that — somehow, either by human error or random chance — the Browns will fail at whatever they try.
"I believe it is the nature of the human species to reject what is true but unpleasant and to embrace what is obviously false but comforting." H.L. Mencken

Just got done reading this myself... a decent look into the draft, until the fraud showed up and kicked out the author. Nice to see that Banner wasn't blowing smoke saying that they had a trade in place (pretty specific trade at that). Hope that Mingo pans out like they want him to since he was their "guy" from the get go.

Sounded like Scheiner thinks the same thing.... Like he's covering up for a drunk father who is making a fool of everyone, except its a lot of drunk fathers

The Browns consider trading tonight's no. 6 pick to a marquee franchise, in exchange for a second-round pick tomorrow, a first-round pick in 2014, another first-round pick in 2015, and two other future selections.

Curious as to whom that might have been...

PS - Love Haslam kicking the reporter out. King Jimmy doesn't like underlings looking at him.

Well, SF was rumored for a while to want to move up. May have had their eyes on Austin?

Good thing they turned that down then. Would've been a terrible deal (assuming those other two future selections were mid to late rounders).

Depends on the plan I guess. If you are looking for ammo to move into top 2 next year?

I love this quote, gives me new found respect for Banner , and glimmer of hope for the future (that will most likely be extinguished by Jimmy's legal problems ):
"What does a bust look like before it happens?" he [Banner] asks rhetorically. "It looks like four guys sitting in a room, trying to convince each other that some guy is better than we think he is."
"I don't think they're building chemical weapons in Berea. But they might be. I can't say for sure."
