Swisher breaking an unwritten rule there. Don't swing at the first pitch after back to back shots. Looks like Reynolds may have paid for it.

Sigh. Hernandez just answered my wife's question to as why I groaned when I saw he was the umpire tonight. Ringing up Carlos on a pitch outside after the premature warning. Lets get a big lead and have Ubaldo hit heir best hitter late in the game.

That warning is not something you want with Ubaldo on the mound.

A pitch is liable to get away from him at any given moment.

That last pitch was pure filth by Ubaldo. 7 K's through 4 will certainly do.

True story: I was at that McGuire game sitting above the visiting dugout behind 1st base. Indians went up 5-0 in the 1st and Mark was 1st up at the top of the 2nd. He was on pace to break the HR record that year (which he obviously did.)

Anyway, after he crushed that Bomb off the Budweiser sign he's walking back to the dugout and I swear he says, "Sandy told me it was a fastball!!!" Alomar totally tipped him off. Orel was staring at Sandy...and they he smiled and shook his head. My guess is that they planned it.all along. Give the fans a thrill...which they obviously did.

Guys in both dugouts were laughing their asses off.

Why did Ubaldo go away from his fastball to Donaldson there?!

Bouncing the splitter back-to-back after he's had a good fastball all night?

Welcome back Hagadone..... bases loaded..... needs to throw strikes!

Nice ovation the fans gave Ubaldo. Has to make him feel a hell of a lot better when they booed him off a few weeks ago.

Hagadone came in and looked like he was pissed for being sent down.

That Reynolds pose, walk, and stare down was a thing of beauty. Oh, yeah, the 466 ft moon shot wasn't bad either.

Ubaldo touched 96 once. They probably have the radar gun amped up for his starts. Two good ones in a row. Gimme four or five more and maybe I'll start to think you're coming around.

Thanks for the tickets, Rich.

Galley Boys are slop on top of a so-so burger and a bun you coulde get from a Covneninet food mart generic pack. They the Antoine Joubert of burgers; soft, sloppy, oozing grease and cheap sauce and extremely overrated by a biased fan base. Don't hold your breath, we don't even get that from the pitchers that are actually somewhat good at pitching. (Masterson)

Obviously, but you're missing the point. Good doesn't have to be 6 IP 2 ER or seven shutout. Yesterday, he threw strikes, mixed his pitches well, and touched the mid-90s regularly. He even looked a lot better from the stretch.

If Hagadone gives up a double to Reddick, Jimenez's line looks a lot worse. Context is a big deal when evaluating a starter. Sometimes they get bombed. Other times, like Cliff Lee's start last week, they give up seven on a bunch of infield hits, bleeders, and ground balls that find holes.

For as good as he was through five innings, he nearly let the sixth get away from him. He had two outs and then gave up a hit and a walk. That's a spot where he needs to buckle down and get through the inning. Hagadone bailed him out. A guy like Jimenez isn't really coming back until he can consistently end innings like the sixth.

"Good" is a relative term in this case. Good for Jimenez isn't the same as it is for David Price or Adam Wainwright.
