Everyone gets it that you will get your way. Wahoo has been on the endangered species list for years.

Your stereotyping of others' takes based on your judgments of their motives and perspectives gets ooooold.

It is fascinating how guys like you shout opposing views down. No need for those. You actually have the off-the-charts levels of self righteousness that Christians still get accused of.

How personally empowering it must feel to be so intolerant.

Who did I stereotype? She is referred to as a stay-at-home mom from a town that is 95.5% white. I'm just demonstrating the facts. If you don't like that white people in sheletered suburban lifestyles shouldn't be opening their mouths about race relations, don't get upset at me, get upset at the ignorant Sarah fucking Lees (they couldn't make up a better name for that quote if they tried) who think they have something useful to add.

It's all ball bearings now-a-days.

Yup, you're right, I do. I also think sexual orientation is no one's business - we should all think of people as just "people". And neither problem has anything to do with the speed of a fastball in Cleveland. Play ball!

If we all would have just thought of people as just "people", we never would have gotten to the point where we think up the term "Redskins" or to use it in this manner in the first place. We only have to fix things because we fucked them up in the first place. Luckily for Sarah Lee, she never has to leave her little bubble where she might have to experience less-than-ideal parts of our society.

Didn't feel like creating a new thread, but today I received a Fan Survey from the Tribe , which isn't normally a big deal , but this one specifically asked for my feelings on The Chief, and the Block C logo.... Seems like the beginning of the end for old smiley face.

Looks like it's time for me to buy up all the stuff I can find with Chief Wahoo on it.

Interesting write up by the people at sportslogos.net

Think he is on the way out, we were told at the start of the year we were only allowed one helmet, but I know most other clubs had 2 or even more. I think the phase out is nearing its conclusion, I wouldn't be surprised to see an announcement sometime in November that our uniforms are now officially Chief free.

For the record, our caps this year:

Chief Wahoo 98 Times (60%)
Block C 64 Times (39%)
Throw Back (Nothing) 1 Time (1%)
Detroit, we are coming for the central division in 2014!!!

Back in college, I was about one beer away from getting a Chief tattoo. Now, I wonder...if he does indeed go away, should I be glad I didn't go through with it, or regretting that I didn't?

If he is indeed being phased out--as I also suspect he is--props to the organization for how they're handling it. No announcement, no fanfare, no press. Nothing "official" to be discussed ad naseum for the umpteenth time. Just a quiet fade into the night, and he's gone.

The chief isn't about to go away completely any time soon. He may not be on the field but he will be well represented in the stands.

Would/could they attempt to prohibit Wahoo apparel into the stadium?

In theory they could , but the public backlash would be resounding , and for a team that has enough trouble as it is selling tickets, I don't see it happening. Getting rid of the chief on the uniform, and in the team shop is primarily being done to appease the national media, and people who have no connection whatsoever with the team or the city of Cleveland.

Are you sure it's the nips? Not the bloody impalement pole protruding from her mouth?

A racist caricature is probably way more acceptable.

Webster's:
racial intolerance = bigotry
racial superiority & inferiority = racist

21st Century US Culture:
racist = anything that offends anyone to any degree on the basis of race - if the perceived victim is in the racial minority, and even if the ones offended are not in the racial minority.

Just an observation.

The last lament of a losing side desperately trying to hang on to a stupid logo and team name because, you know "Oh I just don't want to be PC". I assume these same people would have no problem with caricatures of a Goebbels inspired Jew with a hook nose or an Al Jolson black face minstrel. But those two are TOTALLY different, right?

Just an observation.

I knew I shouldn't have. I honestly am not really worked up about it- certainly not enough to fight, and yes, Whaoo is obviously the losing side. Wanting Wahoo is not the main issue though. This has been rehashed so much. Al Jolson does not equal ND Irish leprechaun does not equal Wahoo. Anything else I'd say would be repeating myself. Any reply to this will be last word, vs. me at least. Cheers CDT.
