NFL Draft: Day 2

Unread postby peeker643 » Fri Apr 26, 2013 2:35 pm

Can the Browns find a way to get back into round two?

Either way, CB/S (DBs in general), G, LBs.... what's your priority today?

All they need is a CB to have a good D per BAC, so THAT!

My priority is a good workout.

I'll yawn & check on the Beau Bells once late tonite.

You don't find immediate contributors from rd 3 on. You find prospects & ask me in 2 years.

Article on ESPN on how the real value in the NFL draft is in the second round.

Than it goes on to tell us that the Cleveland Browns are the worst team in the league in this regard.

Maybe the best thing the Browns can do in the 2nd round, is not get back into the 2nd round

Well, Mangini skewed those results pretty good. I'm not sure how awful they really are the last few years with contributions from Sheard and Ward

They don't get back into 2, and if the cost is a 2014 1st round pick, they shouldn't.

They take best available CB at 3.

I don't care what they do today as long as they take a Tom Brady-esque QB in the 6th round this year.

Still stunned that Barkley was a sure high 1st round pick last year and a possible 3rd rounder the following year. How could the experts have been so wrong a year ago??

If Barkley's there, the Browns take him.
My guess is the Raiders take him, though.

Rumor is Browns trade down with Miami and received WR Davone Bess as well as picks.

Now I found this...

"The Browns completed their anticipated trade for Dolphins receiver Davone Bess today, The Plain Dealer has confirmed.

In exchange for Bess, the Browns swapped spots with the Dolphins in two rounds Saturday. In the fourth round, the Dolphins moved up to the 104th overall pick, and the Browns dropped to the 111th. The teams also have exchanged picks in the fifth round, but the exact spots are not yet known."

Any time you have a chance to draft a CB who's smaller than 5'10" but makes up for it by running a blistering 4.54 40, I don't see how you could pass that up.

Barkley is a career-backup quality QB. There's a reason he drops to the 4th round - any team that doesn't run a WCO is wasting their time picking him.

Thank god they didn't take him - haven't we had our fill of big name useless 3rd round QB's?

From the PD (yeah I know):

1. At the NFL Combine in February, Browns CEO Joe Banner said he thought there was no quarterback worthy of the No. 6 pick in the draft, and that never changed. There were those Geno Smith to the Browns rumors ... at No. 6 ... that appeared right before the draft. The Browns tried to make teams think they could take a quarterback at No. 6, which is why they had all the individual workouts with EJ Manuel and Smith. They did that in case a team really wanted a quarterback. No one did.

Way to tip your hand asshat.

Say what you want about this draft. The new regime is all about building the team by spending money in free agency. I understand they are going to fund FA signings by shorting current roster players on their bonuses.

So Springsteen then? 'Adam Raised a Cain'?

Banbardi are born into this life paying for the sins of somebody else's past?

See, the best part about changing regimes every week is all the fresh starts. Banbardi may end up the greatest 2nd-7th round drafting duo in the history of football.

So there's that.

ETA so there's no misunderstanding: :nanner:

They've been pretty decent in round 2 for three years now. Just to be clear, how much longer until we are allowed to think that he Chaun pick isn't particularly relevant anymore?

I'd like to see the Browns grab MSU TE Dion Sims, even if they have to move up a few spots to do it, Big pass catching TE, with HUGE hands.

That was also a different regime.

But yeah... Your 2013 2nd round pick has a year of NFL experience and caught 50 balls last season for 5 TDs. Really hard to bitch about that.

No shit the last few regimes fucked it up. If they hadn't they'd still probably be the regime running the show. Right?

I guess my point (I'm not sure I have one) is in response to LP's ESPN article that the Browns are the worst in the league in the 2nd round. While by their measures it certainly is true, I guess, I'm not sure exactly how meaningful it .

If Peeker went 426 tuesdays without getting cunt punted. But one tuesday about 5 years ago he got cunt punted 65 times, ESPN would be all "Peeker is the worst at getting cunt punted on Tuesdays."

Yet, if Hiko got cunt punted once on the third tuesday of every other month for the last 3 years, he still wouldn't have as many cunt punts as Peeker, yet I'd argue that it's worse. Or at the very least just as bad. Or more likely completely meaningless.

Just like ESPN and their stupid articles.

See? It's a point.

Trade with the Steelers???? We get Pittsburgh's third-round pick in 2014 and they take a safety. I though we needed help in the secondary right now!

Yeah, that seems stupid. Looks like CLE wanted Nassib and as soon as he was drafted they pulled the trigger with PIT.

With the 139th pick in the 2013 draft, the Browns run out of time and forfeit the pick. The front office laments that they didn't have enough time to decide after considering all the trade down scenarios.

Complaining about swapping a fourth round pick for a third. I've got that straight, right?

You may be the eternal optimist but you mean to tell me that there isn't someone available this year at 111 that might be able to help us right now? Maybe that 3rd rounder next year turns into an All Pro but it's always next year...next year.

How about one of our teams trying to play for this year?

Hard to "build through the draft" when you don't have any picks. We still need guards, a TE, and more DBs including a starting FS. Ain't happening with this draft.

If only the Browns had some more 4th and 5th rounders, they could really contend next year.
