On SportCenter too.

Don't stop now, Dan. Keep the broom going on this franchise...

Maybe.

But it's hard to forget that Dan hired the guy (or hired the guy who hired and extended the contract of the guy).

Very little chance Grant gets fired in my opinion. Gilbert gets all the input he wants and in fairness, the objective has (or at least should have) been to blow and clear cap room for the last 3 years and they've accomplished that with flying colors. Thompson and Waiters are semi-shaky picks but the drafts they came from were pretty bad too. And we've stockpiled a respectable number of picks for the future.

Now if a Phil Jackson wants full control, then that's a different story. But just hire SVG and be done with it. If Grant botches the next 12 months, then look elsewhere for the crucial 2014 summer.

The only pick I hold against Grant is Waiters over Lillard.

Does Brian Shaw have a job yet or is he still bumming around on a bench somewhere?

And with 13 games under his belt in a two week old season, Terry Francona is the elder statesman among Cleveland coaches.

What led you to believe it might have been a Cleveland media f-up Peeker?

I don't think Byron ever truly cared about this job. He took the job for 2 reasons:
1. He thought he would have LeBron.
2. His dream job in LA had too much uncertainty with whether Phil was retiring or not.

He was then double tapped with the Decision and with Phil retiring. He's been counting down the days til he could go back home ever since.

There were very few reports other than Baskin and it was a while before other sources reported it.

Personally, I trust Baskin. I don't find him entertaining on the radio, but I do find him to be credible. In this day and age though, 10 minutes is a long time to have that initial report out there w/o others also reporting it or confirming it so I wondered whether he received credible information.

What I am going to do is change the thread title going forward given the veracity of the report.

CLEVELAND – The Cleveland Cavaliers have released Head Coach Byron Scott, the team announced today from Cleveland Clinic Courts. The announcement was made by Cavaliers General Manager Chris Grant.

“I have tremendous respect for Byron professionally and a great deal of admiration for him personally. At the same time, it is critical for where we are as a team to ensure that we capitalize on every opportunity for development and success and we have fallen short of that on the court,” said Grant. “I believe we needed to make this change in order to get to a better position to achieve our goals. I know I speak on behalf of the entire Cavs organization and the Cleveland community, in thanking Byron for his three years here and his hard work and many contributions on and off the court. We wish Bryon and his wife, Anita, the best.” Scott, 52, was named the 18th head coach in Cleveland Cavaliers history on July 1, 2010. The Cavaliers’ record during Scott’s tenure as Head Coach was 64-166.

Seriously?
There was certainly a lot of folks on here griping about the Waiters pick when it happened. I was at the front of the line. But I don't remember anyone throwing Lillard's name around in that discussion a year ago. No one. Its real easy to say you wished the Cavs picked the rookie of the year after he wins the rookie of the year. Thats 20/20 hindsight. And Lillards a point guard. I could've seen folks on here going crazy last year if the Cavs had picked a point guard with the #4 pick... the only position we were solid at (not predicting the fragility of Irving at the time).

There is supposedly mutual interest between the Cavs and Mike Brown.

If Roker comes back, at least then they'd play some defense.

How can you blame the coach?
The Cavs, Browns and Indians are simply going through a rebuilding millennium.
