Evil Dead

Unread postby Cerebral_DownTime » Sat Apr 06, 2013 12:20 pm

Had a night out with the guys, decided on seeing it. You all know my feelings on remakes, but I enjoyed it. It's much darker than 2nd, the one most people know. Extremely violent, and it lacks the camp and the humor the was in the other films (ED2 Army), which didn't bother me because they were going for a more straight up horror flick. There are tons of references to the originals strewn throughout, which I liked because it's like horror "Where's Waldo".

My biggest gripe is some of the scenes were shot too dark, and it was hard to see somethings.

If you like the originals, or horror movies in general, I recommend it.

I give it a solid B. Fun flick, 90 minutes, evil, blood, death, and you out, son.

A night out with the guys and you saw a movie? You're a loser.

But thanks for the recommendation, seriously.

What would the hip FUDU have done? Maybe race your Dart around town while rocking your badass Night Ranger shirt?

We went to the Movie Tavern, where you can drink beer and watch the movie. That was my night out..... and I had fun.

No humor? I laughed my titties off. Old slasher-movie cliches came one right after another, things we've seen a million times before.

The five main characters shed enough blood to give the entire Army of Darkness a transfusion.

Chuck Finley (alias Bruce Campbell, he of the original "Evil Dead" and every other B movie with "Dead" in the title) was one of the producers. "Burn Notice" notwithstanding, he must have been really hard up for new projects.

Oh, I had fun, but I don't think it was the kind of fun that old Brucie and the rest of the producers had in mind, because not once did my skin tingle or the hair on the back of my neck stand up.

Well you didn't say anything about a movie theater that serves beer, I'd be all over that. Do they have secured parking, wouldn't want to leave that Dart in random spot where a random asshole would fuck it up. Although it might be worth him doing it just so I could catch him.

The scene with the Jeep and the arm..... just wow. No, it's not scary, you're not going to leave feeling creeped out or disturbed. We saw it with a great last showing crowd, everyone was into it, you could hear the squeamish people during several scenes.

Fuck you. I haven't seen a movie in a theatre in 14 1/2 months.

I did teach my son how to make bigfoot calls, so fuck you twice!

Last movie I saw in a theater was Cars 2, which doesn't count. And before that it was Spider-Man 3.

I wish I had some friends that a night out on the town would include going to a good movie.

This seems like a brilliant idea. Why aren't there more of these?

I'm surprised you guys don't have one up there. Full bar, nice tavern style menu, and table service. It is a bit pricey (Shocker!), but I think it's worth it. One guy was eating his pizza during the tongue scene.

We have them all over in Va. Called Cinema Cafes. Movie is only $2.00. Granted they get the movies a month behind the Big Thetaters.

The Cinebistro they put on the peninsula is great. Expensive, but worth it.

I have heard that. I want to check it out, but whenever I get the urge, it goes away due to laziness because of the 20 to 30 min drive, especially cause I got like 5 theaters within 10 min of my house

Best thing about the Alamo Drafthouse here in KC,(beside the full bar) Zero Tolerence for Cell phones usage during the movies
"Cocaine is a hell of a drug" - Originated from a famous skit in Dave Chappelle's "Chappelle's Show". The skit would portray Rick James, usually high on cocaine, preforming doing crazy and stupid things, such as smacking Charlie Murphy in the face. Rick James would frequently explain away his actions by saying "Cocaine is a hell of a drug".
