Peeks should be starting the game thread after an opening day win, but 10 mins before there's no sign...... if we lose I'm putting it down as Peeker's fault and not a Ubaldo car crash!

Lineups same as last night for both teams..... Ubaldo Vs Morrow on the bump.

Let's see how well the bats get on going from 78mph last night to 98mph tonight!

I think Ubaldo will do better with Francona at the helm rather than Acta. Gotta believe!

I would feel better if we had spotted Ubaldo four runs in the first but if he can pitch like inning 1 all night we should be OK. *fingers crossed*

The strikeouts are a concern... but at least the Jays pitcher is up to 40 pitches after 2 innings

I'm still very postive on the year but.....

M Brantley reached on infield single to second.
C Santana singled to shallow right center, M Brantley to second.
M Reynolds struck out looking.
L Chisenhall struck out swinging.
D Stubbs struck out swinging.

....could get old really quick.

That said, it's going to be Brantley's year.

Not bad from Ubaldo.... not the mechancal car crash he was last year, but there are still clearly some issues.

In any case, 6IP and just the 1 run will do nicely.

Don't know if I'm sleeping and just dreamt that Ubaldo pitched a decent six innings, wiggling out of a sticky situation or two, but it would be nice if today was his worst game of the season. Gotta dream...

Reynolds has had the worst 4 at bats I have seen from a single player in one game. Morrow is about as nasty as they come but Reynolds was pitiful. The entire bottom third of the order has been pretty shambolic tonight.

Reynalds is not doing a lot to engraciate himself to the fanbase, that's for sure.

Ubaldo was mediocre, which I will take from him every time. Don't expect him to be able to be mediocre consistently, though.

Reynolds is like Russell Branyan's right-handed younger brother.

If he only hits 23 homers like last year, he's not worth playing every day. If he hits 30 to 35 homers, he's probably worth the pain of watching him.

Although he did give us all this gem from last year:

Not a fan of Francona going to Perez back-to-back days when he missed most of Spring Training, but I digress.

Mark Reynolds haters in full force. Not shocking.

When's the last time we had a guy that could hit a ball 457 feet that's 95 mph and neck-high?

For every few strikeouts, he's going to do that. We could have had Casey Kotchman weakly grounding out to 1st.

Liked the way Ubaldo mixed pitches. He got away with some, and I'm not sure he can sit 91-92 and be effective, but he threw some great sliders and change-ups. It looks like the gameplan for him is to become a pitcher and not a thrower. We'll see if it holds up. It looked like Francona/Callaway were calling the game, not Santana. I could be wrong, but that's the impression I got.

I was thinking the same thing. I had the Toronto feed on the MLB Extra Innings package and right before those three got up, they showed a stat that Morrow's K/9 last year went down nearly 3 from the year before because he was throwing more hittable pitches early in the count to get guys out quicker. He then proceeded to mow down those guys as if three junior varsity high school kids won a contest to bat in a major league game.

You could see that Morrow was irritated with Brantley and Carlos' two weak hits against him, and he decided that the next three guys weren't going to touch the ball. I wish we had a guy who could dial it up like that to get out of jams.
Don't go away mad, just go away.
