That was ACL. Not Achilles tendon. I agree ACL procedures and injuries have becoe less career threatening and the rehab process and surgeries have made those quicker to return from.

Correct.

Age, genetics, repetitive stress, mech. of injury, steroids, and Cipro = tendon rupture.

He likely tore the achilles tendon he thrusts off more naturally....I hope. If not it's due.

I would assume the Brown's Medical people would be smart enough to do a thorough eval/work-up which would include BILATERAL MRI of his achilles. One would look for fibrosis or even early partial tears.

And in case they need anymore advice, the more distal ( closer to the heel bone) the tear, the more likely it will happen again.

You know what they say about assuming.

I always liked cason, but I was hoping he's be more of the 3cb, so him and Capt would be redundant to me, obviously an upgrade, not what I was hoping for tho. Maybe Millner falls to six with the Geno, OT love, not sure I'd wanna bank on that, Still plemnty of names out there, and we do have money to spend, so its wait and see time.

Browns sign former Bears TE Kellen Davis to a 1 yr contract, ship on Fred Davis must have sailed. Not crazy about this guy, he has a major problem with the dropsies, which is tough to un-coach.

Got to go out and get Grimes now, we land him , and I give Banner and Lombardi a solid '-A' in there first FA Period.

Guy like Grimes walking the time-honored highway of " Do I wanna play with Browns or Dolphins for more money and fewer wins or do I wanna play for an actual team for what they're offering".

Because that's the situation in a nutshell.

Owner's market right now. In a big way. Grimes would be better served to see who comes outta draft with need for DBs so that he can swing some of that leverage he's lacking back in his favor.

ETA- Similar situation for Urlacher (although if Grimes is healthy he's a player and one wth a future). If Urlacher is waiting on some sort of lifetime appreciation salary offer from the Bears then maybe he has taken too many hits to the head.

Still think they'll go get that guy in April. They're building depth with these other OLBs but not a single elite player amongst them. Including Kruger.

They don't have a single "scheme/situation irrelevant" OLB on this roster even with the signings.

Now, despite the talent at the position coming out in the draft, may well be they still don't see that scheme irrelevant star there either. Not when seemingly all of them have either injury concerns/experience issues at the position.

If they ID elite player at #6 they're gonna take him. Whether it's Milliner or someone else. Shit, I'd be thrilled if it was Warmack, JB be damned. If they don't see that elite guy at least the economics of the game will allow them to take a gamble on a guy like Smith. At least it wouldn't stun me if they did because it's no longer deathly expensive to take your chance on a position you absolutely need. No more Bradford money being locked up on these guys, even at #6.

Lastly, I said "if you wanted a plan and philosophy".

Bitch about the effectiveness but it's pretty clear what they're doing in acquiring Bryant and these OLBs.

BTW, I think when the hype machine is finished, and because of the cheap prices associated with picks under this new CBA, Smith, Barkley and Manuel are all gone in RD1 and you could see guys like Glennon, Bray, Nassib and Wilson all be gone by the end of round two.

Just watch. It happens every year.

Wouldn't shock me if J'Ville took Smith (though I think they wait one more year) and the three teams behind the Browns are all desperate for a QB too.

Hell, if you're a QB that has a quality that might allow you to stumble upon success, you're going to get drafted early. Christ, what slot did the big, dumb, immobile senior citizen get drafted in last year. We can laugh at Glennon all we want (and I don't want him) but he's a more attractive option then Weeden was last year.

And a guy with Manuel's natural skills ain't slippin too far down the first round - especially on the backs of what young athletes did at that position last year.

You can do allot worse then Mr. Jason Campbell, and if this "QB competition" is based which guy gives us the best opportunity to win day 1, then I expect him to be the starter. As for odd man out I wouldn't be shocked if its Weeds,over Colt only because they can probably get more in return for him. Thad Lewis is also finished.

Simplistic, yes. But more signs point to it being true rather than false, starting with a team's need to fill a slot where management feels there isn't a better option available. Older than Weeden, but more experienced.

Campbell's last significant season: 2010, 2,387 yards, 59.0%, 13 TD, 8 int, 9 fumbles, 84.5 rating
Weeden's only full season: 2012, 3,385 yards, 57.4%, 14 TD, 17 int, 2 fumbles, 72.6 rating

If Weeden gets the chance, in an offense more tailored to his skill set, with a year of experience under his belt, I see his int% going down and his completion % going up. But that's just me. I thought Brady Quinn was the second coming of Jesus, too.
