Ray Farmer Hire Bumps Lombardi Up to GM

Unread postby Hikohadon » Thu Mar 07, 2013 11:24 am

I know this is a couple days old, I'm less busy today.

So hiring Farmer as Asst GM (a good move, imho) bumps Lombardi up to the GM position (not as good).

Lombardi was certainly deserving of the promotion, seeing all the good work he's done since he got here. Like cutting Rostee Fucker. That was a bold move that few other personnel guys could've made.

A source said Lombardi wanted the GM title originally, but Banner refrained initially.

“At the time, we didn’t know if this (Farmer’s availability) would happen,” Banner said. “I liked the structure of VP/player personnel a little better. It gave him and the department something to aspire to. I thought that was a good thing to have.

Awesome, Banner sees Lombardi as a reckless teenager that needs to prove he can drive within the speed limit in order to get the keys to the car back. Not at all fucking stupid.

Rostee Fucker is obvious and I can't believe it never occurred to me before. Now I wish I had a time machine :(

Maybe it's good that Lombardi no longer has something to "aspire to". this way, he will be less inclined to "help" and just go play in the corner during the draft.

Christ.

Nothing changes. You have to have a GM to have an assistant GM. You had to have the title of assistant GM to have the ability to interview/hire Farmer.

I don't see how that helps my agenda of mocking Smeagol.

I just thought that the idea of Banner holding a different title for the same job as some sort of incentive for Lombardi is hilarious. Especially since about a month later he's like "ah, fuck it, you're GM now"

Maybe they enticed Farmer with a new tee-shirt:

Well, yes, that part IS pretty stupid.

Pup was right that they HAD to give him the title bump in order to get Farmer, so that part at least makes sense. Why they felt the need to hire a guy that they felt needed to be treated like a wayward child... maybe just maybe it gives some insight into how Banner will run his kingdom.
