Stan the Man was amazing.

http://www.baseball-reference.com/players/m/musiast01.shtml

2 MVP's
2WS titles.
7 batting titles.
475 HR's
hit .330 with 19 Hr's at age 41 (maybe we should sign Thome)

Guy was a hitting legend.

Now THAT's a Hall of Famer.

We like to argue for Lofton by bringing up fringes like Maz, the Scooter or some luckbox like Breshnahan. If you aren't going to compare to the mean, then while you're comparing him to those guys, compare him to Stan the Man.

Not in the same building.

There's guys that get in because there can be arguments made they are a bit better than some already enshrined....and than there's some that exceed an argument. To me, that's a Hall of Fame. If we gotta argue your case, you're out.

Of course I don't have a vote, I'm happy for pretty much anyone that gets in, but Stan the Man is the real Hall of Fame.

By the way, it ain't easy to find someone that nobody has a bad word to say about - and I'm talking even when he was alive. Salute.

There are Hall of Famers, and there are HALL OF FAMERS. Bill Simmons (I think) wrote a column a few years ago about the HOF, saying it should be like a pyramid where the bottom floor has the guys like Maz, Scooter and Lofton, and the top of the pyramid would be reserved for the Cobbs, Ruths, Musials etc. He's a top of the floor guy for sure.

Hard to compare Musial to a fringe guy like Morris (FTR - that WS win was and is the greatest single pitching performance ever, and should qualify him). Musial is elite. Top 10 guy of all time elite.
