Welcome to Cleveland Norv

Unread postby mshaeffer » Thu Jan 17, 2013 4:21 pm

Norv Turner has been named the Cleveland Browns’ offensive coordinator.

Not sure how I feel about this. As an OC ok but we all know its only a matter of time before he is the interim guy and possibly the HC.

A proven OC with a track record of success will be a weird thing around here.

I think with the personnel here it's about the only saving grace. It worries me a bit that the team is hoping to catch 1993 lightning in a bottle but without a dynamic, option threat QB who can also throw, I'm not sure anything else makes sense. We're all aware of what I think about the QB Norv will be working with, but if he's salvageable in any way I think this will be it.

I seriously just pray that #3 is smart enough to adapt and thrive in this offense.

Wondering also if Raheem Morris is in line for the DC position because he ran a 4-3 in Tampa and may be continuing it here with an eye toward implementing a 3-4 down the road (which is what Washington played while he was DB coach there this season).

I think all 3 of the DC's they've been linked too fit the bill for a hybrid 4-3/3-4 "attack defense". Wouldn't be surprised to see them get the thumping rolb/de or de that can stand up this year, and generally grab the best defenders available in the next few years.

Ill be happy with Morris, Pagano, or Tucker. Can't get much worse, that's for sure.

I just hope they keep him up in the box so we don't have to look at his face on the sidelines.

Agreed. Very underrated movie.

BTW:

@JasonLaCanfora: Just going to reiterate what I first reported earlier tonight. still sounds like Todd Bowles ends up in AZ and Ray Horton ends up in CLE

I could get behind a Turner/Horton coordinator pairing.

Agreed. Said that a week ago and said it in Wrap last Sunday, I think that's a solid way to go given the personnel. That would really make me feel better about some things.
