These kind of things happen when your out-athleted at every single position on the field. Good news is both Saban and Kelly probably have time for a quick phone call right now if the Browns want to call either of them.

You mean a team that beat Pitt in double overtime, Purdue by three and needed six turnovers to beat scUM by 7 just isn't very good?!?!?!

This is all Gene Smith and Colin Klein's faults. ND should be playing OSU or KSU.

To be fair its Jordan Hall, Corey Brown and Travis Howard's fault. After Tressel lied those idiots went out and still took a few hundred bucks cash that summer and forced the NCAA into the bowl ban.

Well, it's their fault and Tressel's.

Yep, and that is part of the reason why I have never understood the, "well, Jordan Hall is a good dude" arguments by the same people villifying other Tat 5 members.

Does this beatdown really surprise anyone here? All year we said the B1G sucked and ND looks like a B1G team.

You can officially take Saban's number out of of Jimmy's cell "contacts" list.

And you can officially say good-bye to V. Bell, he be "rollin Tide" after this debacle.

....and Manti just dropped 16 slots.

best part about this game is the Creepy Brent Musberger twitter feed
Galley Boys are slop on top of a so-so burger and a bun you coulde get from a Covneninet food mart generic pack. They the Antoine Joubert of burgers; soft, sloppy, oozing grease and cheap sauce and extremely overrated by a biased fan base. I wish we could have the playoff system starting this year, along with tOSU never playing in the TaxSlayer bowl as punishment, so we could see this years team play with the big dogs..

I still have no idea why people continue to insist that if tOSU self imposed a bowl ban last year the NCAA would have let them play this year.

I guess I don't understand why would the NCAA, come down harder on a self-santion?

Jesus Christ, YES!!

They are:
1. Pittsburgh Steelers
2. Notre Dame
3. New York Yankees
4. ALL SEC fans
5. Dallas Cowboys

Bama fans are getting fat. The last 5 years, Saban's gone 61-7, taken them to 4 SEC title games, and won 3 national titles. Good thing I don't live there anymore, they'd be absolutely unsufferable.

The crystal ball hasn't left Louisiana, Alabama, and Florida in a long time. And it's been in the state of Alabama for the past 4 years.

It is perfectly rational to expect that since tOSU received a one year bowl ban that, had they self imposed, the NCAA would have accepted that and we would have been watching tOSU last night.

I guess you just have a lot more confidence than I do that the NCAA would act rationally. All evidence to the contrary.

We'll never know one way or the other, but it's my opinion that the NCAA was getting their pound of flesh and any self imposed sanctions would have not been enough and the NCAA would have added on more.

Some fun Notre Dame facts:

In the past 20 years, Notre Dame is 4-11 in Bowl games, including a combined 0-5 in the Fiesta Bowl, Sugar Bowl and last night's National Championship game ("BCS games"). Those 5 games were lost by scores of 42-14 to Alabama, 41-14 to LSU, 34-20 to Ohio State, 41-9 to Oregon State and 41-24 to Colorado.

Notre Dame's two most recent bowl victories came over 7-6 Miami in the 2010 Sun Bowl and 7-7 Hawaii in the 2008 Hawaii Bowl. The other 2 bowl victories in the past 20 years were back-to-back wins over Texas A&M in the 1993 and 1994 Cotton Bowls.

A&M finished 10-2 and 12-1 those years. So, you have to go back to January 1, 1993 and January 1, 1994 for Notre Dame's last meaningful bowl victories.

Notre Dame's current starting QB, Everett Golson, was born on January 2, 1993.

For reference, Ohio State is 9-10 in the same span, including 7-4 in "BCS" games (put in quotations for both teams because I'm including the Rose, Sugar, Fiesta and Orange Bowl stats from the pre-BCS era).

I move ND's fans to #6 and add Boston's fair-weather fans that started in '99. All of those fan bases are just huge nationally. The ND fans will go back into Hiding soon enough, right after there 7-4 '13 season.
