Bama fans are getting fat. The last 5 years, Saban's gone 61-7, taken them to 4 SEC title games, and won 3 national titles. Good thing I don't live there anymore, they'd be absolutely unsufferable.

The crystal ball hasn't left Louisiana, Alabama, and Florida in a long time. And it's been in the state of Alabama for the past 4 years.

It is perfectly rational to expect that since tOSU received a one year bowl ban that, had they self imposed, the NCAA would have accepted that and we would have been watching tOSU last night.

I guess you just have a lot more confidence than I do that the NCAA would act rationally. All evidence to the contrary.

We'll never know one way or the other, but it's my opinion that the NCAA was getting their pound of flesh and any self imposed sanctions would have not been enough and the NCAA would have added on more.

Some fun Notre Dame facts:

In the past 20 years, Notre Dame is 4-11 in Bowl games, including a combined 0-5 in the Fiesta Bowl, Sugar Bowl and last night's National Championship game ("BCS games"). Those 5 games were lost by scores of 42-14 to Alabama, 41-14 to LSU, 34-20 to Ohio State, 41-9 to Oregon State and 41-24 to Colorado.

Notre Dame's two most recent bowl victories came over 7-6 Miami in the 2010 Sun Bowl and 7-7 Hawaii in the 2008 Hawaii Bowl. The other 2 bowl victories in the past 20 years were back-to-back wins over Texas A&M in the 1993 and 1994 Cotton Bowls.

A&M finished 10-2 and 12-1 those years. So, you have to go back to January 1, 1993 and January 1, 1994 for Notre Dame's last meaningful bowl victories.

Notre Dame's current starting QB, Everett Golson, was born on January 2, 1993.
