If Kelly goes back to Oregon he'll never get an NFL interview again.

Last year he did the same exact song and dance with Tampa. Got the contract on the table, pen in hand, and said "wait a second, fuck you, I'm going back to Oregon."

Only difference is this year he might be looking at an NCAA investigation. Time is right to jump ship.

Screw Chip Kelly. I can't dodge the feeling that he'll be a colossal failure, and this whole attempt to leverage teams against one another to milk every last dollar out of them doesn't make me feel any better about him.

Too bad the other candidates are so ridiculously underwhelming. Maybe Marrone is a good choice? But he's 25-25...I'm just so freaking sick of this changing coaches crap.

If you pay Chip Kelly more than Sean Peyton ($13 Million) the Browns have bigger worries than who is HC. Because Haslem is an complete idiot if he shells out more than Peyton makes.

No idea if they get the guy at this point, but if you set out to set the World Record for number of pickled monkey dicks eaten in an hour, don't come up short.

Otherwise you're just a guy that ate a bunch of monkey dicks.

Because Philly is the Honolulu of the East coast. Have you seen Philly? Place is a total shit hole.

Philly is bigger, in a bigger media market area, close to NYC and plays in the most over publicized division in the NFL. Perfect for an ego the size of Kelley's

This is so awesome, this thread.

48 hours ago Kelly was Paul Brown reincarnate and an innovative wizard. Now he's a dick and thanking God he's going elsewhere because he's schizo or some shit.

And people that didn't want any single part of Kelly to begin with are now criticizing the regime for not hiring him after criticizing the search and the sham interviewing process that was apparently designed to hand him the job with no other candidates being seriously considered.

I love these boards. Really, I do. :thumb up:

I'd like it stated for the record that I have been consistent in my irrational idiocy throughout, and I continue to be. I still want Kelly, and I'm going to be pissed when we don't land him.

Duly noted.

As an aside, friend of a friend has a boat named 'Duly Noted'. It's always been his way of saying "fuck you" when i's not appropriate to say.

Boss says, "I need that report by Monday", dude tells him, "Duly Noted".

That's me from now on. If I say "Duly Noted" understand what I'm saying.

And do not respond with "Duly noted" as a reply to this reply. It won't be funny as this past sentence or two was used to prevent it and turning Duly noted back around on me.

Duly Noted as a response to this will be weak.

It’s unclear whether Kelly’s agent, David Dunn, has managed to set up a tug-o-war between the boyhood friends who are pursuing the same coach. Browns CEO Joe Banner and Eagles owner Jeffrey Lurie grew up together and then worked as colleagues for a generation in Philly.

As we pointed out last night on Twitter (Rick Reilly may have been first, though), a sense was percolating through league circles that Dunn had done with Kelly what agent Bob LaMonte had done with Andy Reid, feeding to a willing and aggressive media member or two the idea that Kelly was close to a deal with the Browns in order to increase the sense of urgency for any other interested teams.

Not a big fan of PFT, but this makes a bit of sense.

Time to get pissed. Eagles now lead for the master innovator. ESPN says Jimmy likes the Whis from Arizona. Well at least he is familiar with working without a legit QB.

Disheartened; disappointed; not pissed. Shrugging. Not a lot of hope here. Would feel better with Heckert still on board...

Do we know who the GM would be with Whisenhunt?

ALSO: about Banner telling McCoy he'd have a place with the next regime: was that substantiated? How could Banner be doing that before the new regime is in place?

I was on board with Kelly from the moment it became a story, and I'll be pissed if we don't get him.

Ken Whisenhunt: Remember he took a mediocre team with a great QB to the Super Bowl. So again, we're back to needing a QB.

Also, Whisenhunt reportedly still holds a grudge against Pittsburgh for not giving him the HC job, so every game against the Pukes is going to be personal.

The Bidwells were just as bad of owners as Jammies, so I think if Haslem is even a quarter better than the Bidwells and Jammies, we could see some success.

I'm on board with Whisenhunt if he's the guy.

When your only involvement with the thread is to take a shit on HasBan, it is appropriate to mock them for both misidentifying the Shiny Object they were going all in for and then failing to land the guy they misidentified.

Double fail.

If I were to attempt some objectivity, I'd say they should now wait around and interview guys like Arians and Mike McCoy, but I don't really care what they do.

The Problem with Arians always was not being able to score enough points. Look at the talent P-burgh had plus the QB. There's no excuse for that team not scoring 30+ points a week. That's why he was fired.

I am not on board with an Arians hiring, but WTF do I know?

Agree with this as it pertains to Arians.

McCoy I'd be fine with. Arians is the 35yr old mediocre MLB player who has a big free agent year and someone is dumb enough to sign him to multiple years for big dollars.

At least McCoy has an upside and over the past few years he's actually run an offense in whick Orton, Tebow and Manning have all been successful.

Actually, Arians' hospitalization reminded me today of his age, so I'd cross him off the list too. But that's me.

I know a lot of you are angry at The Chipper right now, but just remember how much joy he gave us in Tommy Boy.

I hope everyone is monitoring their email. The Browns have probably moved to the stage on their list where they're just going to start PMing fans to interview for the job. Imagine the buzz that would be generated by hiring, say, Soul Dawg. Wow. :pop:

I've already informed the team through back channels than I'm not interested at this time.

I am far from sold on Chip Kelly's chances at the pro level, but was hoping they'd land him. I just don't see any other viable candidates. I'd bring in Josh McDaniels and ask him what he learned in Denver. Wednesday morning beg Saban.

^ if it comes down to "begging" for your new head coach, it just goes to show the state this franchise is within the football universe.

Apparently opening the checkbook, as everyone expects Haslem to do, isn't enough
Galley Boys are slop on top of a so-so burger and a bun you coulde get from a Covneninet food mart generic pack. They the Antoine Joubert of burgers; soft, sloppy, oozing grease and cheap sauce and extremely overrated by a biased fan base. Proof that if you throw enough cheap sauce shit on a burger you still can't overcome the lame burger. -JB

I didn't think it would come to this because of the whole NCAA investigation thing....but you could make a case it'd be wise to wait a year - cause next year there will be jobs available with team holding much better QB's. And I know Romo and Newton have their respective issues, but I'd rather work from square one with those guys than Foles, Weedman or Brady Quinn.

I was for Chip until I saw what a circus act he's pulling. Good luck with that Philly. Or Oregon, good luck with your NCAA investigation.

Maybe we could grab Cowher? :hide:
