Big slate of games for the B1G today. I am not really rooting for any of the B1G teams this year except Northwestern, I pretty much always root for the Wildcats.

So my question is can they win a game today in pile of tough matchups.

Purdue vs. OSU, Gotta like OSU because Purdue is offensively inept, but Minnesota's good effort and near win vs. TTech might say something about the relative strenght of the B12. I like OSU to win.

NW vs. MSU, I think this may be the B1G's best shot today. The 'Cats specialize in losing bowl games in the 4th quarter, we'll see what happens. I like NW.

scUM vs. USCe. Unfortunately, I think scUM may have a shot here. I always root against them, but I think they could win this one as USCe does not have a great O, and scUM has a shot at a few more big plays. I don't really like USCe's team that much this year, so I am going to say scUM either wins or loses by 400, can't tell.

Nebraska vs. GA. GA wins by 700.

UW vs. Stanford. I dont' think UW can run against the Cardinal, therefore they lose. The wildcard is Alvarez, but I don't think he is enough to put them over the top.

So I see the B1G with 1-2 wins today and another year of hearing about how bad the B1G is all year from ESPiN and their ilk.

Yeah, they are good at that, not just in bowl games. My son and I always root for the 'Cats unless they are playing tOSU.

scUM on the other hand.... not so much. Earlier this week Hoke said that he thought that Clowney could be blocked one on one. I think he is right, if Orlando Pace is your LT. Taylor Lewan, you are no Orlando Pace. I gotta feeling this scUM vs. USCe game is going to be UGLY.

Clowney would be #1 this year. There are better players in the NCAA this year, but there are no better players with a higher ceiling. I really like that LB from Georgia, alot (Ogletree?).

scUM's O is so completely overmatched in this game by the USCe D that it is pathetic. Borges is a terrible OC, and scUM does not have the OL to contain the USC DL and they have no playmakers. scUM will lose this game by 30+.

Yeah, Nebraska and scum are hanging in there.

USCe just put 4 DE's on the field on the DL for a play and scum ran a 7 step drop pass play, no audible out or TO. They deserve to lose this game. Draw play or screen would have netted 5,000 yards on that play.

B1G does not look like the punching bag the media keeps calling us. I don't know if NEB or UM will pull out the win, but it at least they are competing with SEC teams.

Bag QB play though. B1G NEEDS better passers. So badly.

Purdue looks inept. I wonder if Hazell will be able to do anything with that mess. I personally would have passed on that job if I were Hazell. It is a career wrecker if you are interested in moving on to a bigger program. Purdue sucks hind tit on in state talent for a state that is not particularly great at developing elite talent. They really have no recruiting base, it is a coaching career ender.

That said, Purdue is the thorn in OSU's heel.

At least these games are competitive. That is more than I can say about the bowl games most years.

26-21 should end all arguments, but unfortunately it doesn't. I just hope they get used to 8-5/9-4 because Hoke will be bringing them a lot of that over the next few years. Their 2013 class is sooooo overrated. There is about 3 players in that class that I would want on OSU and only 1, maybe 2 that I would trade their OSU equivalent for (Dawson for Gardner, maybe Thomas for Thompson).

CLowney: had my back to the TV and my casual-watcher wife's jaw dropped. Saw the replay. Was admiring until I saw the look-at-me pose. I'll never get used to that. Eff him. But I'd take him of course.

Gruden et al is why I watch with the sound off, or way down. Normally, with the Browns or Bucks,we know a lot more about what is going on than the announcers do. And I cannot stomach listening to an ex-bengal or steeler announcer gush about them. Nope.
Oh, and with the sound down, it is pretty easy sometimes to read lips of the coaches. That's pretty entertaining, and gets missed with the announcers talking over crowd noise.

Bowls. Record is now 19-22.

B1G has had 26 teams in BCS games since 1998, SEC 25.

Last six years has belonged to SEC. Overall, it's even.

LSU has two really good, 1st round talents at DE... and Clowney is better. He's got the strength/motor of Sam Montgomery and (almost) the speed of Bark. Mingo. It's retarded. Someone is going to get a great player next year at the top of the draft board.

I am just hoping that the Browns can quit failing at losing games next year and get up to the #1 spot. Seriously, WTF is the point behind going 5-11? Play the young guys, lose all your games and go get Clowney in the 2014 draft! He is a once a decade player. He could have been the #1 overall pick coming out of HS based on potential alone. He is like the LBJ of football, his physical talent is so obvious that not even a Cleveland franchise could fuck it up.

Seriously, 23.5 TFL and 13 sacks as a sophomore in the SEC? Another year in the weight room and another year of coaching? That kid is going to be devastating next year.
