Georgia Tech and..... to the B1G?

Unread postby e0y2e3 » Fri Nov 30, 2012 5:01 pm

A TON of smoke Georgia Tech will be in the B1G within days and UVA could be the partner (a good bit of UNC chatter, but more bite to the UVA talk).

Yeah, that is all over the place. B1G will be an academic powerhouse (who cares) but a steaming pile of football mediocrity.

Not sure that will matter with the impending 8 team playoff (it will jump a round before implementation). This year's mock selection committee basically found that it was pretty tough to pick 4.

I hope the B1G is ready for some Triple Option!
From a football standpoint GT is a improvement over Rutgers and Maryland. But UVA is an embarrassment. Im hoping GT is the road that leads to FSU.

FSU is not a candidate.

The B1G is following the path of educuational enlightenment to large media markets and football mediocrity. FSU does not achieve this goal.

UVA football records:

2012: 4-8
2011: 8-5
2010: 4-8
2009: 3-9
2008: 5-7

I am not sure that things are looking that peachy for UVA. VA HS FB is on the uptick, but UVA is still a mess.

If educuational enlightenment is the key then Boston College and Clemson should be targets.

And the way I see it , if your going to be the B16 you might as well go all out and be the B20 w/ two divisions of 10.

If you did that, and everyone played 9 opponents within their own division, it wouldn't leave any room for opo-division games.

FSU is going to end up in the SEC or Big 12 in the next 2 yrs.

UVA has everything you need to become a solid football program except leadership at the top.

This whole conference thing just sucks, by the way.
Playing here is the closest thing to heaven. Really, I mean it's amazing to be in a place where the fans truly cherish their football team and stick behind them win or lose. BC? Really? UVA and MD for that matter sit in recruiting hotbeds and have real young talent. Mass HS football is the worst I have ever seen (and the hoops the best due to orep schools). No one in Mass cares about BC including BC grads and that program will never win again. MD fans care far more btw.

Is there something out about BC? I haven't seen anything. Last I have read was GaTech + one of UVA or UNC with UVA being most likely.

BC would be nothing more than a cashgrab, that is why I am NOT putting it past Delaney. These guys are really fucking up college football. In their quest for cash they are killing the goose that laid the golden egg.

You really gotta give it up to the B1G. They're able to increase revenue while destroying tradition and not making the conference any better football wise.

Great move, guys! :thumb up:

People have been clamoring for playoffs for so long.

Plenty of others have been warning about how that will be accomplished- with consolidated super conferences.
The conference playoffs will be de facto national playoff's early rounds.

Based on that survey, it looks like they might be looking to change the "Leaders" and "Legends" division names. Thank Christ.

Filled out the survey; the final question, the anything else to add question, I suggested to ask Rice if they want to join the Big 10. Great academic school, would give the conference a presence in the fertile recruiting ground of Texas, would put the BTN in the Houston market and would further drag down the football quality of the conference, all things that Deleany wants to do. Sorry if they don't recognize the tongue-in-cheekness of the comment.
