Have I mentioned lately how bad the NCAA shootout sucks?
Almost as bad as their making the top ranked team in the country the fifth seed in the tournament, which would have put Akron on the road against UConn, IF they had won the fuckin shootout tonight.
Fuck the NCAA rules and politics.

So Lingerie Football is hiring more athletic women to "legitimize" the sport?
Translated: One team hired masculine women to win, everyone else followed suit, and they can't market it as sexy babes frolicking around.

I think we are going to need more details than that because my guess is nobody knows what you're talking about but also don't care enough to google it.

First the shootout to break ties is an abomination. It's like kicking field goals to decide the Super Bowl.
Second, Akron finished ranked #1, but was seeded 5th in the tournament. A top four seed gets you home games in rounds 2, 3, and 4 (the last two rounds are in a warm weather city close to a traditional soccer powerhouse that thus gets home field advantage). Akron would have had to go on the road in the 4th round. Not the first time we got screwed by the NCAA in the tournament, it's an annual thing.
I'm venting.

They never said. Just like the tournament game against Northwestern that was moved from Akron to Northwestern because of "weather".

Yep. Creighton was down a man after a red card, but that advantage was taken away in the shootout. Just one more reason to hate the shootout. That's like having a home run derby to decide a tied World Series game.

That sucks. I don't follow soccer (obviously) but it sounded like Akron was in a good position to repeat.
Do they have any extra time, or do they go straight to the shootout. Because, yeah, that sounds kind of ridiculous. Especially in tournament matches.

Two short OT periods and then right to the SO.
I proposed allowing each coach bench one defender on the other team and play a short OT period, then repeat. Some hockey does something similar IIRC.
