Yeah I liked it too. I think they missed a few laughs here and there, but it's still a fun movie.

The scene where dude is talking to those kids with the scythe in the parking lot was great.

Anyone seen 'Bolivia'? Came out in 2001 and is on my Netflix. Reviews were real good on RT, but I can't trust those assholes.

Wes Anderson is the new Woody Allen, loved by so called intellectuals, ignored or loathed by actual human beings with a functioning brain.

Whose more pretentious; the people that like his movies or the people that hate on the people who like his movies?

The correct answer is, they equally are.

Saw Carnage today. Really good. Almost the entire thing takes place in a NYC apartment. John C. O'Reilly and Jodie Foster are one couple, Kate Winslet and Christoph Walz the other. The couples' kids get in a fight, and they meet to resolve it. Great acting, hilarious lines. Walz was brilliant again. O'Reilly was great, too, came off totally different than the big goof he usually plays. Also, the movie's probably the greatest advertisement for Scotch ever.

It's about a movie that looks so bad that you have to use whatever measures necessary to make it stop.

Saw The Grey on Friday.

My in-depth review: Plane crashes in Alaskan wilderness. Survivors hounded (tee hee) by wolves b/c they might be too near their den. Dwindling survivors try to hike to civilization. Man v Cruel Nature, Man v Difficult Terrain, Man v Vengeant Wolf Pack.

Enjoyable, but I recommend a fifth of Scotch beforehand.

The King Of Devil's Island- Norwegian movie about a brutal reform school for boys. Set in 1915, the movie details the true and harsh conditions the boys must endure. Kinda like The Shawshank Redemption meets parts of Sleepers. I thought it was a wee bit long though, or it seems long. Slightly less than 2hr running time.

Check it out.

Watched Project X tonight.

If you don't mind the dorky-kids-throw-big-party-become-cool-John-Hughes-movie-with-lots-of-tits-and-drugs thing, then it's a fairly enjoyable 1.5 hours. Just turn off your brain beforehand.

I have that laying around here somewhere. Now I'll have to watch it.

Evil- Another flick from Norway. School Ties meets Lord Of The Flies........ sorta. I LOVE the cinematography in this movie.

Everyone is saying that movie is funny as hell.

That'll make 2 movies Channing Tatum is good in.

The other being A Guide To Recognizing Your Saints, which is amazing.

I'm just trying to figure out what is driving Soderbergh to pick these movies. We have him doing The Girlfriend Experience a few years back with porn star/really hot chick/really slutty porn star Sasha Gray staring in a movie about a Call Girl (movie wasn't terrible) and he follows it up a couple years later with the real story of Channing Tatum's time as a male stripper?

Allllright dude, we get it already.... people do "bad" things and sometimes end up famous through it..........

At least we have his Liberace biography to look forward too in 2013.

So saw the first under-the-radar movie worth watching in a long time.

Chronicle.

Surprisingly original movie that is a mash-up of Blair Witch, Carrie, and every stinking superhero "origin" movie ever made. A super-hero movie that treats teenagers like teenagers, not like noble warriors out in search of their destiny.

I did.

Pretty decent. Not at all what I expected. Brendan Gleeson and Don Cheadle were excellent, as always.

The movie didn't know exactly what it wanted to be; crime drama, comedy, character study, mystery...but it was definitely entertaining.

Gotta disagree. Chronicle was ah-ight, but that found-footage-breaking-the-fourth-wall bullshit only works in comedy.

We all seen all the "found footage/mockumetary" movies ad nauseum at this point, so that movie would've been much better had they actually tried to make a movie.

Not that I disliked it. Just that they did the movie a disservice with the mockumentary bullshit.

It still has all the Wes Anderson trademarks but it's not bleak, especially the ending. With most of his movies, depression just seems to cast a cloud over the whole movie; this doesn't have that.

The Man From Nowhere- Korean flick that is a MUST WATCH. I just saw it and I would put it in my top 10 list right now without hesitation. A combination of The Professional and Taken, but better than both by a country mile. One of the best shootout/fight scenes i've ever seen.

Go watch it, fuckos.

Take Shelter.

Pretty neat film about a man who thinks the end of the world is coming. He keeps having vivid dreams about terrible storms ,tornados, raining motor oil. He starts to spend the families limited income on building a storm shelter.

The twist is his mother is in the looney bin because she's schizo. She lost her marbles in her 30's.

He doesn't know if his visions are just his slipping into schizophrenia...or real.

Plus it was filmed in Grafton and Elyria.

One weird movie. For some reason I can't put my finger on, I found it extremely difficult to follow. But kudos to Michael Shannon ("Revolutionary Road") and Jessica Chastain ("The Help") for some great acting.

The ending is curious, for lack of a better word.

Yeah, then ending is open ended....leaves it up to you. Either the end of the world was really was starting to happen or he really was slipping full time into delusion.

I liked the ending better after digesting it for a day or two.

Mesrine Part 1 and 2. Really good 2 part movie about the rise and fall of a French gangster/bank robber/outlaw. Vincent Cassel is fucking amazing as Mesrine. I think it's very comparable to some of Scorsese's best works.

Yes. I don't watch dubbed movies. Also each movie is about 2 hours, so it's kind of hard to watch 1 and 2 back to back.

^^^ Staying on similar ground, a movie I saw on Netflix called Gomorrah.

It's about Italy's modern day mob, or what's left of it. It is in subtitles which never bothers me for some reason.

Real good movie. Well directed, great characters, acting, and character development.

I have that on my to watch list. Probably going to get to it this weekend.

I have no problem with subtitles. I think dubbing it ruins the character's performance. The only dubbed movies I like are the old Kung Fu flicks and Japanese monster movies. And that's because of the comedy factor.

Battle Royale: Think Hunger Games, but Japanese and really violent. Each school year in Japan 1 randomly selected 9th grade class (42 students) is sent to an island to fight to the the death until only one remains. It's a really fun movie, the blood is over the top and the concept is really cool. Plus the book came out in 2000, so suck it, Hunger Games.

not sure if this Australian flick qualifies as "under the radar" but it's definitely worth a look-see

I saw this about a month ago, it was fun, and clearly Hunger Games borrowed some concepts. But Hunger Games fleshed out the world and the contest in a much better way - Battle Royale is impossible to take seriously.

The only "fleshing out" I wanted from BR, I got. I never read either BR or HG books. So i'm not sure how much The Hunger Games stole directly.

Outrage: A fucking badass Yakuza movie by the legendary "Beat" Takeshi Kitano. This movie plays like a damn Tarantino film. It's a giant, violent chess game set in the world of one Yakuza family. Full of hits, beatings, and double crossing. If like the gangster genre, you'll like this movie. My only real gripe is it's kinda hard to know who is which crew at the beginning, as the names are difficult to remember and you don't learn them all right away.

Brave is good.

It's no Toy Story 3 or How to Train Your Dragon, but it is good.

And still, eff kids.

And eff the entire Shrek franchise.

Silver Linings Playbook. They sold it as a quasi rom-com chick flick, but it's not. Saw it twice & both times it seemed the guys in the audience enjoyed it more than the women. It's hilarious & wonderful.

Bradley Cooper is fantastic (really. I was shocked,) DeNiro the best he's been in YEARS, Jennifer Lawrence is amazing (and looking quite hot for all you guys). Even Chris Tucker is a riot when he's on screen. Throw in football fan superstitions & sports betting, I think you guys would really enjoy this film.

It's only in 746 theaters right now, but expands on Jan. 18th. Check it out, you won't regret it.
