Browns Vs. Cowboys 11/18

Unread postby noles1 » Fri Nov 16, 2012 2:20 pm

Dicking around at my hotel here and thought I'd throw out a Game thread.

Moved some business travel around and just arrived into Dallas. Flew my brother down and a buddy who scored us a few free tickets in a Suite at JerryLand. Got the Browns gear in tow and all set to enjoy the weekend.

What are we thinking for the game? Hear Haden might be out, any update?

Prior to the Haden injury I was really into the Browns M/L but may have to re-think that now.
Playing here is the closest thing to heaven. Really, I mean it's amazing to be in a place where the fans truly cherish their football team and stick behind them win or lose. We players love them, too. I feel a sense of accomplishment playing here, we are a special breed of football players with a great opportunity." ~ tOSU LB Brian Rolle

I think even with Haden at 100%, the boys torch this defense for 2-3 passing TD's. Only hope the Browns have of staying competitive is if they can keep Ware off of Weeden, get a few passing td's, stay on top of the TOP battle (which they've been awful at all year) and win the turnover battle.

Should be an entertaining game, but I don't harbor much hope of a Browns win.

What's that based on? Since Haden has returned the Bengals are the only team that has managed to throw two TDs in a game against the Browns (in a game the Browns won) and the Boys have one of the worst redzone passing offenses in the league. Obviously with Haden out that changes things dramatically but with him in at 100% it's not based on much of anything. Romo has only had 3 games this year where he threw for more than 1 TD and the first one included a fluke performance by Ogletree.

Only hope the Browns have of staying competitive is if they can keep Ware off of Weeden, get a few passing td's, stay on top of the TOP battle (which they've been awful at all year) and win the turnover battle.

It's almost a given that Ware will underperform to his stats. I'll go back and look but I don't believe any major rusher has had an impact against the Browns this year. Mitchell and Thomas have been stellar at pass protection on the edges. The key for the Browns is whether or not they attack the Boy's run defense or whether they revert to the first half folleys of passing 60+% of the time. Richardson is healthy and has put together back to back 100+ yard games against teams that were working to minimize the run. Sit back and set up for big plays over the middle. Attack the Boys the same way that Seattle and Baltimore attacked them - both teams that have similar ground game to the Browns and QBs that can attack downfield (tho Flacco is much better than Wilson).

Defensively the Browns should be focused on goading Romo into making bad decisions and trusting in the front 4, healthy for the first time this year, to prevent Felix Jones from being able to get any traction. The Cowboys have big WRs but they are very inconsistent and Witten has been underperforming with about 50 ypg and only 1 TD on the year.

Anyone who bet on the Browns to win would be a fool but a team off the bye week healthy on both lines and at all the skill positions sans Haden generally has an edge on the team they're playing. With as many rookies as the Browns have there's no telling how they'll respond to the bye but they are just as likely to have had a chance to really take a breath and adjust for the first time since they came into the league.

Rob Ryan's been all over the news here bitching about Cleveland management and saying how personal the game is to him.

Dude's an assistant coach but gets a ton of tv burn, probably because they detest Jason Garrett so much.

Another epic coaching collision.

Good Christ, not sure how one could stomach a wager on this contest.

The sharp money will be on the Browns with that many points, but you'll see a lot of em' goin' to the window with a sour look on their faces.

As the saying goes, "sometimes the hardest ones to bet, are the easiest to cash."

No Haden + Shurmer...I can't bet em' But the Cowboys are about the dumbest GD team this side of Detroit.

Why wager this one when the Rams are -3 against the Jets?

Holmgren is gone. Lerner is gone. Who's he bitching about, Heckert? Sounds like more blowhard reality TV histrionics from the Hairy Blubber.

Come on...there is hope. I remember the Browns putting a beating on the Cowboys in 1979 on MNF 26-7 when they were totally outplayed by the 'boys. A few big plays and we can easily be the blind squirrel that finds the acorn.

Shot a nice big doe with the bow last night and dragged the pig a mile back to the truck. That was two hours of fun in the dark gutting it and trying to drag it and my gear in the dark. Instead of watching the Browns idiocy today I'm back out again and hoping for the same brutal drag.

I'm having the 12-yr old daughter watch the game and text me updates. That will be the basis for the Browns portion of the Weekend Wrap that I'll write when I get home.

Yeah... it's come to this. I'd rather sit in a tree 20' above the ground and hope an animal is dumb enough to walk into arrow range so I can get elbow deep in blood, guts and shit and kill myself trying to get it out of the woods as opposed to watching this team play football.

Dawson's leg is bionic. Weeden's a little bit peaked today, really slinging it a bit high. Needs to calm down. The lines (both O and D) are looking really solid today.

Why is it when a receiver runs into one of our DBs and initiates contact, it's a penalty against the DB but when we do it it's offensive pass interference?

Weeden is still too slow with his reads. Really cautious looking downfield. The turnover fairy must still be whistling in his ear. Good thing we drafted a QB with an arm to check down on every play. Playing scared is a reflection of SHUR.

I just think the whole system/philosophy is flawed. We don't get separation, our receivers don't run crisp routes. Our patterns don't seem to work together to free us up.

Weeds is slow on his reads. Disjointed. At least our lines showed up today.

Bottom 4th: Cleveland
- J. Kipnis grounded out to shortstop
- A. Cabrera doubled to deep left
- N. Swisher doubled to center, A. Cabrera scored
- J. Giambi doubled to deep right center, N. Swisher to third, N. Swisher out at home
- J. Giambi caught stealing, catcher to third
