Undefeated, Ranked #1, 6-sraight shutouts and have outscored their opponents 387-7 on the season.

Ridiculous.

Saw the Purple Raiders play a few weeks ago. 58-0.

They were national Div. III runners-up last year. This year's team is 10x better.

There is no better way to spend a fall Saturday than having brunch in the student cafeteria (best $7.50 buffet-style brunch in northeastern Ohio) and then walking over to Mount Union Stadium for a 1:30 thrashing.

Head Coach Larry Kehres just this past week passed Bear Bryant for the No.4 spot, all-time college football victories, career, all divisions.

Kehres was an assistant coach to Ken Wable back in the dark ages when I was sports editor of the Alliance Review. Good man thru and thru.

Mount gets a little national media love today from Bruce Feldman...

Kehres was the starting QB and also the RA in my dorm when I was a freshman in the fall of '70. We absolutely tormented the poor guy. He's had many D-1 offers over the years, but likes it where he is.

Most amazing stat from Feldman's column...the fact that this year's seniors are trying to win the NC so they don't become the first class since 1989 NOT to win a national championship.

Is there a reason coaches like this don't get a chance at FBS jobs instead of the retreads we keep seeing in there? Is it just not worth their while unless it's a big time job (like Tressel with YSU)? Shouldn't Kent State have been all over this guy after Hazell left?

Kehres is 63...and he was offered the Kent job years ago, (10-15?) and turned it down. He's where he wants to be.

This very scenario was covered in the Steve Martin movie where he had 12 kids and a dog or two with that Chicago actress as his wife. The name isn't ringing a bell but Piper Perabo is for some reason. Surely a signal that being too lazy to google means bedtime...
