SPORTSTIME OHIO ANNOUNCES ST. EDWARD vs. ST. IGNATIUS FOOTBALL GAME TO BE TELEVISED LIVE

WHAT: SportsTime Ohio’s Notre Dame College High School Football Game of the Week finishes off the season with the St. Edward vs. St. Ignatius game live Saturday October 27th at 7:00pm. This will be the 50th time the teams face each other with St. Ignatius leading the series 27-21-1 and Head Coach Chuck Kyle going for his 300th victory. State title implications are on the line as both teams are undefeated and ranked #1 (St. Ignatius) and #2 (St. Edward) in the state. STO will carry the game live following its MAC Football match-up between Ohio and Miami. Dave Bacon and Bill Powers will provide play-by-play and analysis.

#1/#2 Iggy/Eds almost feels like 2006 OSU/Michigan. Except that you know they'll meet in the playoffs again.

I believe both teams are also ranked in the Top 10 nationally as well. The potential playoff hook-up may take some of the onus off this one, but can't imagine too many regular season meetings between these two have been more meaningful.

Eds was pretty terrible during my time at Iggy (when they tripped up against the Mike Doss-era McKinley twice and Solon once in the playoffs). Remember some major blowouts then. Would love to be at Byers on Saturday.

Game had so many typical moments of this rivalry. Team that was playing better coming in and expected to win, out plays the opponent most of the night, to lose it on just a few plays, often self inflicted.

I'd be shocked at a similar outcome if they meet in the playoffs.

That probably was the real title game, or it will be in a couple weeks.
