After that failed challenge attempt, I think Shurmur almost started crying.

Yeah, while the Browns were going for the strip, and as the back was still fighting and not down (or being pushed back), the whistle blows before the fumble. Cost the Browns 3 pts.

This is interesting. The score of the KC-Tampy Bay game now is listed as 24-4 on NFL.com.

How the HELL do you score just one point?

2 safeties?
Kelvin Garmon still in the league? 2 holds in the end zone?

I won't complain about that 3rd & 1 play action call. Almost seems like that call worked b/c they earned it with solid running the previous 4 plays.

The score previously was 24-3.

It finally updated as 24-10. Apparently NFL.com has TDs and extra points confused.

That's why I hate the FP rule, that whistle should have blown much earlier on that first down play of Bengals.

The losing will return, and he'll pull a Butch Davis. He looked/sounded like he was on the verge of a breakdown last week. It only will get worse from here.

My favorite part of the game today was, with about 11 minutes left, after watching the Browns 95th consecutive 3 and out, and watching the Bengals play their usual disjointed, dopey Marvin Lewisesque brand of football, Sollie Wilcots announces heartily;

"That's what the Battle of Ohio is all about."

Christ that was bad football.

IDK. The "bad" stretches were indeed horrid. But the "good" parts were entertaining as hell. It's either the blind squirrel finding the acorn, or a young team learning and trying to figure it out.

Cincy was the slump-buster. Maybe the next one will be prettier?

Part of the reason for that, he is being utilized properly and seeing less time on offense, as he should. He's staying healthier, more fresh and can focus on just his ST play. I want to see him break just one more for a TD as he is pretty much at the end of his career. Also want to see him regain focus on possession of the kicks he's receiving.

So Weeden learned how to throw the ball away last week. Hopefully this week he learns how to avoid tipped and batted balls.

Running the ball up the middle has not been effective all year; throwing the ball to Marecic hasn't been either.

Defense was very good.

Cooper, Hardesty, Gordon really stood out/surprised me.

It's obviously been said before/goes without saying that if we'd Haden all season our W-L could be quite different, but..... Shurmur still needs to go ASAP. Hopefully we carry this momentum into next week, play sharp, and beat the Colts.

Let's not place 100% of the blame for batted balls on Weeden. Batting balls down is a nice defensive play in most spots, so credit to the DLmen in some instances. It's not as if Weeden is throwing from an angle as Bernie did.
