The Atheletic Department did not think that tOSU was going to get a bowl ban, that was completely out of left field to them. Hence the reason they did not ban themselves. Now that said, I get feeling that the NCAA was going to add a penalty to anything the Bucks put out there to prove that they were still the boss around here, so I think it is likely that if tOSU would have banned themselves last year then the NCAA would have still dumped an extra year on it.

No kidding Lee. From the snippets of Smith that we have seen, he looks like he is probably the most natural RB on the roster. Not saying the best, I just think he has the best natural tools. He has that explosive stop and go acceleration like Braxton that is just not coachable.

On that TD run, watch how fast he gets to top speed after breaking each tackle. I would love to see him get more tackles just so we can see what we have in him. He wouldn't be the first RB to lost on a depth chart (Eddie George was buried for a while too).

I can't really see them staying there. With Sabino now hurt and out at least this week, the linebacker spots after Shazier are painfully thin...and as Pup notes, the safety play continues to be shaky at best. I don't agree that OJ is worst ever...that contest has many better candidates...but I don't think this team can go unbeaten with Klein and green freshman linebackers and safety play like we've seen through six games.

It is worth noting though, that they just matched last year's win total.

I think you are a pessimist. They get a couple of weeks to get it together before they play any of the stiffer competition. Next tough game before the second to last game of the season in Ped State, who is surprisingly resilient, but I don't think they can match up with tOSU. I have the Bucks heading to Madison 10-0.

I think you are a pessimist.

It's a defense mechanism, Furls....an attempt to combat my admitted homerism.

I don't think we differ all that much in what we expect going forward. This team is capable on paper of winning all their remaining games for sure. It wasn't Indiana, Illinois and Purdue I was worried about.

I was in Madison two years ago, and it's just a really tough place to play. Michigan has a shot. Playing in Happy Valley will be no picnic. The league is down, but the OSU linebacker situation is really sad. Maybe Perry and Williams come around to shore it up. Maybe Klein has a game transplant. I just think 12-0 is too much to ask, even though two of the toughest hurdles are behind them.

Edit: I guess my statement was as much about really being one of the best 8-10 teams in the country as it was about potentially going unbeaten in a truly bad conference.

Jason Ott was really bad.

And as fun of a game as that was on Saturday, I can't help but think there will be a bump in the road along the way. This defense is capable of losing any game we play. My worry is we'll get the 1st quarter offense for an entire game, or we'll have a game were Braxton turns it over a few times while the defense is off it's game.

After watching Denard act like a dipshit against a reeling and depleted OSU team in the big house last year, i'm hoping that Meyer completely punishes them. Haven't hated a scUM team quite like I hate this one in a while.

I can only hope that their bowl hopes ride on the game, as unlikely as that looks atm.

I appreciate what 'Bino brings to the team, but I'm actually excited to see some of the fresh LB's get some reps. Its unfortunate the opportunity comes because of an injury, but these guys need to get ready for next year, and while playing Bino and Kline this year might make a difference on the field (might), it really makes no sense for them to get all of the reps.

Now that they're 6-0, the talk nationally has resurfaced what a boneheaded move it was for Gene Smith to fail to self-impose a bowl ban last year. Most of those folks saying those things are operating on the assumption that it would have meant no ban in 2012, and as Furls indicated, the NCAA people pretty much shot down that line of thinking immediately after the sanctions were announced.

It was widely known that after a 6-6 season, a 2011 bowl ban for OSU would have been close to completely painless...and the NCAA said after the fact that they were not going to let the program off with no "pain". They told Smith before the announcement was even made, IIRC, that a 2011 ban would NOT preclude a 2012 ban. Smith related that conversation with the NCAA people to explain the circumstances to his many critics after the sanctions were announced.

Oh, I get it. It's just that this is such a unique situation. Nothing to play for this year, two senior starters who aren’t difference makers, and nothing but freshman (and Grant) rounding out the position group.

I’d rather those growing pains cost us a game or two this year than next. And to be honest, I wouldn’t be surprised if Kline or Sabino’s play cost us a game or two either. Might as well let the kids learn. It’s not like it’s a Simon or Hankins-type talent keeping these guys off the field at LB.

Best halftime show I have ever seen , and that's saying allot. TBDBITL has once again shown the country why it is TBDBITL. If you go get a hot dog or use the bathroom at the shoe during halftime , your making a huge mistake.

Also did anyone else who was at the game think the Nebraska Kicker & holder should have been escorted off the field in handcuffs for fucking w/ script Ohio?
